Does microdermabrasion really improve the appearance of stretch marks?Has anyone tried this?
It reduces visibility of almost any blemish. (I use a microdermabrasion cloth.)
I think so, my buddy had good results. I just wonder what are the long term affects, with this stuff. You know like how this might affect your skin 2-10 years down the road in your life.
Ooooh I dunno about that BUT I use the Olay version on my pretty little face and let me tell you that even family of mine has said things like "Wow , you look really good ....no , I mean it , like really good ...." I love it , love it . I can't even imagine how the real thing must be ......
JennyDahl, can you tell me the exact name of the product you use?
Its Olay ( brand , I am sure you know of it ) and its their micro derma kit .
Ok I just checked the package . Olay Micro derm and peel . It comes with these orange crystals almost like a scrub and you rub that it your face for about 1 min and then apply this warming serum and rinse . You can use this as often as once every 3 days and you really see a difference as soon as you rinse . Wash your face before you use this , I get better warming results when I do . You can use any lotion after and even put make up on . I have not thought about using it on my stretch marks though .... They always have a package for neck and chest area ...maybe that one is more intense ( I would imagine that one for your face would be more gentle than one for your neck and chest ) You can get this anywhere BTW CVS , Target , anywhere xoxoxo
oh I have seen kits like that at rite-aid.Im going to give it a try thanks.
I get it professionally done about one every other month for my face I have never thought of doing it for stretch marks, I have heard awesome things about laser treatment on scars
I have heard that getting it done prefessionally is the best way though .....maybe someday I will get that .
I used the Olay stuff on my face and my face got really bumpy and started peeling. I'm not sure if that's what caused it but I've been scared to use it again.
i have microdermabrasion done professionally about once a month - i was having trouble with comedones (aka those white "pimples" that never get a head on them) and it works great for that. i know it works for fine lines also. i have never heard it being used for stretch marks though.
Jayda, I wouldn't be scared to get it. Even if you do wind up being allergic to it, it's not that expensive where you couldn't just toss it.
But, if you're not allergic, you'll be extremely pleased at the results. I mean, if it makes my 40 year old face look good after all the smoking and tanning and natural aging, think of how good someone young and beautiful like you would look!
I've had several professional microdermabrasions at a derm's office for acne scars. Even when combined with acid peels, the results were minimal and very temporary. I don't think they would do anything at all for stretch marks, especially in the long run.
There's something called "epidermxII microdermabrasion pro-treatment" which is in my experience better than anything else ive tried. I use it with the silkia camellia oil. It works wonders. http://www.goldportbeauty.com/products.htm
i had a sensitivity issue with the olay as well, and I was since "regifted" a marykay set. I love it, it's very gentle, and you can see/feel results so much! Also, since it's an at home treatment, you can use it more often then a treatment at a salon (b/c it's not as strong). It's just 2 easy steps, and the 2nd is so soothing and smooth. I loveit!
at 55$ for the set, it isn't bad, espically for sensitive girlies :)
(whoa, I sound like a salesgirl! lol)
Im going to the derm tomorrow so Im going to ask about the microdermabrasion.
That's it! You and Me, the new Cheescake Factory in Cherry Hill, my treat:-*
I just did the Olay treatment (I had a $3 off coupon(cha-ching), so I came to report that I love the results! Can't wait to do it again next week!
I feel like running throught the meadow in a douche commercial...AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
how much does professional microderm hurt?
Having sand particles blasted at your face seems like it would hurt, but it didn't at all for me. It felt more like a skin massage.
Then again, I was getting my microdermabrasions after sessions with a smoothbeam laser, so I would have used numbing cream on my face beforehand. By the time I'd get to the microdermabrasions, the numbing cream should have had plenty of time to wear off. But it is possible that my experience my have been easier than other peoples' due to the cream. Oh yeah, and anything done after hundreds of laser blasts to the face is going to feel good by comparison.
