I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
http://www.ultimatelooks.com/jonrena...PINK2pic1l.jpg
Is that hairstyle a reasonable, feasible idea? I stole the idea from Rachel McAdams, I confess. And my punky friend who's safely out of province and therefore copy-able. But I could be momentarily deluding myself into what I can and cannot pull off. Also, would this negatively affect business? (that is much less of a concern for me, frankly). Big question would be is whether these kinds of highlights are easily fixed if I hate them, or if the upkeep is hell. Thanks. (that's me in the avatar, but I look slightly less washed out in person...so opinions please! Thanks again!)

Oh fuck yea. I think pink hair is hot. It would sure be a conversation starter. I dont know how to manage pink hair upkeep so I cant offer advice about that.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
You could totally pull this off. I worked with a girl who had all pink hair, but under the lights it just looked blonde.
And oh, I've had hot pink chunks before and it worked great for me. I love pretty jellybean colors for hair.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
Maybe try clipping in some pink highlight extensions to try it out before committing?

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
My blond friend put pink streaks in her hair in high school...it was wash-out stuff, I used the same stuff and it was gone in a month...hers never washed out. Ever. She had her hair stripped twice, and it just turned it from pink to orange.
So watch it! It might be OK, but I'd be reaaaaally careful.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I like it. It's fun. With a great haircut & style I think it would look cool. But I would try the extensions first, and then if you like it you can take things to a more permanent level.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
 Go for it, especially that soft shade in the pic. It looks like cotton candy. You would definately turn heads and stand out in a very unique way.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I think that looks hot. I wish I could do it but I could never get away with for work. If it doesn't fade and you want to change it go to a pro though so you don't ruin your hair. I knew couple girls who changed their haircolors every week or so and all were wild and bizarre colors and it always seemd to work out okay but they both had shorter hair so it was easier I guess to chop off the fried ends.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I've got my hair similar to that style right now. I'm bleached blonde with pink streaks under. I use Manic Panic hair color. It's temporary and affordable. It washes out gradually, and is gone in a week or two depending on how often you shampoo your hair. I was afraid that it would not fade completely, but it does. Once its all washed out, I cant even tell where it was and it doesn't seem to cause damage either. The website is here: http://www.manicpanic.com/dyepage1.html --I use the Cotton Candy Pink shade that comes in the jar. I bought mine on ebay for a little less than what the site charges, or you can sometimes find this stuff at Spencers at the mall.
With Manic Panic its a good idea because there is no commitment. I say go for it!

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
maybe you could go to a hair extension place first and buy clip-ins and try it out! There would be nothing worse then putting that colour in and it stains your hair!
Like someone mentioned earlier, with her friends hair stained and stripped twice, I know some one who did the same... It almost wrecked here hair!

I would love you in that hair; however, you will always make more money as a straight up blonde. Just saying. Punky hair has never made anyone more money in a strip club. But I would love you.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
Very very hot! I could totally see you in this! Liek the others said, try to clip ins and see if you like it and can work with it.
I've also seen really blonde hair with a light purple, almost lavender color before, I think that looks hot too, just a much cooler tone.
I so wish i had the balls to do that. If you do get it done, post some pics up so we can see! :)

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
Ok, thanks everyone for the opinions! The picture I got is actually from a highlight extensions website. The girl in the photo then presumably is wearing the advertised extensions, so maybe I'll give those a try first to make sure I like it.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I think it's super hot!!! I've done my hair pink before, but it tends to fade to orange on my blonde hair, just beware of that. Damn. I want fun hair again now.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I think you would look very pretty with it.
I had a girlfriend here in Canada that did her hair that way but she went to a salon and they put pieces in, they were like 5 dollars a piece.
It was Hot.
I say go for it cuz when you know you look HOT and your feeling good its easier to BANK!

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
That's beautiful! It would look great on you. I used to have pink highlights when I was really blonde, but since I went back to my natural darker blonde they won't stay in more than a day or two. I miss them.

What website did you use?

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
When I used to put Manic Panic in my blonde hair I would use a tiny bit of hair bleach (powder) in shampoo and it would come right out.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
i like it.
when i was a teen i used to put pink dye like that in my very, very blonde hair, and the upkeep was a pain in the ass. i tried a few different brands of semi-permanent and permanent dye, and it'd always fade to this horrible greyish pink after just a few washes. then when i tried to bleach it out, it just went a lighter shade of blondeish greenish greyish pink. it was horrible, and i regretted it.
since then, all my crazy hair colouring endeavours (and there's been a LOT) have been done with hair extensions. the colour is amazingly vibrant, you can get real human hair ones, they do not fade at all, and you can simply remove them when you get bored of it.
i'm getting some green ones put in next time i get mine done :D
i'd definitely recommend using extensions.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
The upkeep is HELL!!! Trust me, I know... My hot pink has to applied every other week. You also have to apply the color over decolorized hair or else you end up with a wimpy, washed out color. That means when you're ready to go back to a natural shade, you have to let your hair fade out to at least an orange, then try to fill and color the hair... a long process which usually means you have to go to an all over darker hue, or at least live with some lowlights for a while.
Although I love my pink, I don't recommend it to everyone. It's a psuedo-commitment, you have to be willing to maintain it and then be very flexible with your color when you're over it.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I forgot to add, I think the clip ins are a fantastic idea. If you ever decide to actually color your hair, use either the Manic Panic (in the jar) or Paul Mitchell Ink... Before Manic, I had to reapply my pink twice a week.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I like that alot. that look is a total "pick me up" you know..Soon as you get in the mirror and hit the floor you are energized.

Re: I want this hair. Good idea? Bad idea?
I think it's really cute! I generally don't like unusual colors, but that is cute and really girly. Even the older customers would probably like it. I'd try the clip ins though after reading the problems some girls on here have had.
