changing money for larger bills
Until recently I thought other dancers at my work were continually getting $100 and I was thinking yeah I get one occasionally but usually I'llget $50's and $20's from customers. Then I found out that many of the dancers go change their smaller notes at reception.
Do many of you do this? Do you do it so that you have less bills in your garter or so that it looks like you are making more money coz u have the larger bills?
Re: changing money for larger bills
Not me. I like to have a huge fan of money hanging from my garter as I earn it, plus it means I have change if people need it. The smaller the denomination the more it looks like IMO. Its always nice to have a couple of $50's and such but I wouldnt go out of my way to change them up even on nights when Ive made huge amounts of money on the podium. (We dont get to see or private dance money until the end of the shift as the club takes the payments.)
Personally I dont think it makes a dancer look like shes making more money but it might make some customers think people only spend in $50 or $100 at a time?
Re: changing money for larger bills
I carry a small purse and NEVER display my earnings for customers (or other girls) to see.
Re: changing money for larger bills
^ Agreed. As a bartender I change in my bills throughout my shift, but always super discreetly. I don't think that customers or fellow employees should know what I make. I always felt that for customers seeing you with a 50 or 100 makes them feel that you have made SOOO much money and don't need theirs. But I guess it's different with every person.
Re: changing money for larger bills
I do change in my money. I don't do it for people to see it, I do it because I've had my purse stolen from LITERALLY under my feet two times, so now I keep my money in a garter, my boots, or my knee socks. I don'tt want to have like a whole wad of singles or some shit sticking out of my leg. I do however keep a 20, not a 100, on the outside of my stack even if I have 100s in there. This is because I have ripped the outside bill on my stack more than once, and I would hate to rip a hundred !! I agree with you Phoenix that if people see a hundred it is their first reaction to think you've allready made your money and they need not give you more.
Re: changing money for larger bills
I prefer my money to be hidden, what I make s none of anyone's business. If I kept money visible, I'd definitely get the larger bills so i didn't have so much bulk to deal with and for all to see. I'd put the large bills underneath the small ones so people think I have no money. It doesn't make a girl more attractive to a customer because she's "wanted merchandise".
Re: changing money for larger bills
i also keep mine in a bag that i take on stage with me so that no one steals it... alot of girls where i am from are completely dishonest.
Re: changing money for larger bills
I dont know how the club in question is but some clubs in Australia dont allow bags (or boots or knee socks / stockings), you have to keep your money in a garter.
As someone mentioned, occasionally I find that people will spot the money in my garter and say Ive already earned alot or "enough" so they dont feel like tipping. It doesnt happen often though and usually it is when Ive got fuck all in my garter anyway so it doesnt even make sense, they're just awkward customers to begin with IMO.
Having what looks like alot of $ there I feel works to my advantage, but each to their own. Not every club runs like the one I work in either (-:

Me too. I also trad in my smaller bills for larger bills because I dont' want my purse overflowing ;)
Re: changing money for larger bills
I have "hidey-hole" shoes, and it's much easier to put more money in them if the bills are larger.
I can't be sticking $20 in one's in there as easy as one $20 bill.
I always change them.
Also, our club ALWAYS needs one's, so we just cash them in for bigger bills.
Re: changing money for larger bills
my skinny legs can't hold more than 40 ones in my garter or it will slide down and my ankles are too narrow to keep a large amount of bills as well. i switch out my bills to keep my gater on my leg. i do carry a purse but i trust no one. i won't keep more than ten loose ones in my purse at a time and that is usually just garter overflow from stage that i am about to change in with the rest of it.
Re: changing money for larger bills
We can only carry it in a garter. I also thought that maybe they do it not just for at work but afterwards. I have a whole wad of $10 notes now and $5's hehe.
