Usually that is what an agent or agency is for (or helps) otherwise if you do want to strike it out on your own make sure you have one other girl who you can do duo shows with ... get a website together... and put an advertisement in the phone book as well as in certain publications (that people use to look for private party strippers).
That's the best I can offer you. Maybe others can be of more help.
The website is going to be a good way to market yourself as a professional. There are a few computer geeks out there that can write the back end of your website so that it pops up first on a Google or Ask.com search. That's good stuff! Also, you can place ads on craigslist or set yourself up a Myspace work page that can be used to promote yourself. I've gotten several parties from my Myspace page and that seems to work pretty well. A lot of it is word of mouth and that's the best kind of advertising and promotion. Sorry but this is my job so I jump on any thread about advertising. Good luck chica and if you have any more questions just post em up and I'll do my best to help.
Kalli, you live in NJ? I'm assuming you also work here too then. You can always start out doing bachelor parties AT the clubs and then gain your rep that way.
And luckily, we have no laws here that prevent us from marketing ourselves as party girls at work.
You could print up cards with an email especially set up for that. If you're really into it, you could get a specific phone number for it too. Just don't give out any personal information like your real name, phone number etc.
Thanks so much guys for the tips. I do work in NJ/NY area but I haven't come across any bachelor parties in the clubs yet, lil weird huh? I remember like 4 yrs ago at Breathless they had a seperate private party room downstairs. Have you come across that in go go bars?
The best thing you can is find the best way to advertise cheap. If you can do it for free on myspace or criagsilist then do it but be warned that you will have people who are opposed tot his or just jealous hags or customers that dont get what they want report your profile or posting to get it removed.
When I use craigslist its a game I play between the religious freaks and jealous hags and myself. I have to post like 3-4 times a day to get the business I want.
I'm no expert at this, I have never booked a private party and am not a stripper / dancer. However, I know quite a bit about marketing...
Can you contact the likely venues? I know that in the area I am from, only a few bars would be willing to accept this type of private party, therefore, it follows that they would be more likely to need dancers than all the other bars combined. Maybe they could recommend you?
What about the doormen? I worked for 6 months as a bouncer in a bar (in my younger and wilder days) and one thing I noticed is that virtually all doormen are 'into' something. They are mostly very entrepreneurial and work at a number of locations each week. If you know any and ask for ideas, I am sure they could introduce you to useful club / bar managers.
Just my thoughts, for what they are worth...
