Re: How do I save a gif?
I'm going to assume you're using a recent version of Windows.
Start the Paint program (click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint).
Use Paint to open your JPEG file.
Click File, Save As...
In the Save As dialog, set the "Save as type" to GIF.
Click Save.
Notes: GIF files contain no more than 256 colors, while JPEG files may contain 24million colors. Converting your file from JPEG to GIF may make it look funny due to the reduction in the number of available colors.
Also, the paint program that comes with older versions of Windows may not support opening JPEG files. In that case you'll need to use some other program to do the conversion. There are many free image conversion tools available. One can be found here: . Go to the bottom of that page and download the " Easy Graphic Converter"

Re: How do I save a gif?
If you have a PC, get a free utility called Irfanview. You can download it from www.irfanview.com. It is great for editing images, changing filetypes, etc. This software is so fantastic, I don't understand why Irfan doesn't charge for it.
If you have a Mac, get a shareware program called GraphicConverter, available for download from www.graphicconverter.net. The software will run perfectly even if you never pay for it, but the fee is only $35.00.
