Re: Breast implant removal
Nina explantation.com is a wonderful site for information, there are forums there. Ive been a lurker and ocasional poster there for years now. Dr Feng or Dr Kolb (sp) are the best surgens for explantation but i forget where they are exactly. The women there will be able to answer any questions you have! Oh you can ask for photo privilages too to see othr members before explantation and after boobs.
If for some reason the url doesnt work let me know and Ill check it.
Re: Breast implant removal
I hope you don't mind me asking.........why do you want to have them removed?
Re: Breast implant removal
I'm just really sick of them. I've posted in the past about the problems I have with them, that I've had since the beginning.
They're saline, and aside from the scarring actually don't look too bad, although because I'm small on top sometimes they do have that "globes cut in half" look, though most of my friends assume they're natural until I tell them otherwise. Most of my friends don't feel my tits very often ;) .
Pretty much since the beginning, I haven't especially liked them. I chalked it up at first to the slight depression that can sometimes accompany post- cosmetic surgery, but instead of making me feel sexier and more confident, they've done quite the opposite.
I used to have a really good sex life with my ex-boyfriend, and even though he always told me that he thought I was beautiful, they made me a lot less uninhibited and I wanted sex less. Now that I'm single, I worry that the next person I date is going to think they're gross.
They're too firm for my liking, I can't practice yoga as intensely as I'd like to, I have to "position" them when I'm facedown on a massage table, they tend to look a little vulgar in the nicer clothes that I have now and basically I just can't think of any real reason to keep them in anymore.
APS, I looked on explantation.com and already booked a consultation with Dr. Skolnick here in NYC next week! The fee for surgery was quoted as $3K + $2,200 for operating room and anesthesia costs. I was told the procedure would take about an hour. For a Manhattan doctor (especially one that's as well-known and respected as Dr. Skolnick) that's a very reasonable price to pay.
Of course, if anyone else reading this thread has any more suggestions, please keep 'em coming! I'd love to hear from women that have had theirs removed or know someone who has.
I know everyone heals differently, but I did feel optimistic looking at the photos on the explantation.com site. The photos I saw of women that were smaller before and went even bigger than I did still looked nice and perky. I know everyone heals differently, but skin elasticity is supposed to be the best indicator and I've been told that mine is very good. I was told by another doctor that I would likely need a lift, but since they weren't that big and aren't after, that's very unlikely. My mother's a doctor and told me that doctor was probably just trying to get more money out of me >:(
Re: Breast implant removal
From what I gather, many patients will need reconstruction after the explantation. So it wouldnt be far out there for the dr. to suggest it. Explants w/o a little nip here and there look flabby. Should you get a 2nd (and 3rd) opinion?

I'm totally getting a second and third opinion, definitely.
Just based on my specs, I'm not close to being an obvious candidate for a life because of the small implants with submuscular placement.
I think I'm also going to consult with Dr. Kolb in Atlanta.
Re: Breast implant removal

It was a replacement surgery...right? I mean, just one???/:O
Re: Breast implant removal
No, mermaidnz was seriously mono-boob-ed (as she called it) for awhile. The surgeon actually removed it so that she had one boob job boob and one 'normal' (ish) boob.
I remember her showing me when I was working at Hooters one night. ;) It was a little disconcerting to see her with one boob "done".
