Anyway, my 4th grade son comes home with math homework last weekend (boo hiss to the teacher) with the following question:
Two runners. One runner starts the race at the the starting line, the second runner starts the race at the 44 yard line. The first runner runs 7 yards per second and the second runner runs 3 yards per second. At what distance does the first runner catch up to the second runner?
WTF. We got the answer, it's 77. The problem is explaining it to my son in a way that a 4th grader can understand it. For the life of me, and my husband, I can't explain to him how I got the answer!
Please help, I don't want him to turn into the same math moron that his mother is.
