And then after he returned her bag of 31 diamonds, she gave him a $100 reward. WTF? Somebody needs to slap that bitch. I'd have sold the damn diamonds and called it karma.

HELL yes! ^^^^ :highfive:
No way, that bitch woulda had it commin.
I totally would have taken it. .30 cent tip my ass. Help myself to a bag o' diamonds for sure!
I wold have taken it too!!! Even though it`s not the "right" thing to do.....i`ll see everyone else in hell }:D
Awesome sig TM :D I love Secretary!
I want to say I wouldn't have, but I prob would. Although the anxiety and paranoia over those diamonds would about just kill me, a la The Telltale Heart;D Thirty cents tip, then $100 reward, what a douchebag!
What's this? A bag of diamonds? How fast can one get a flight to Brazil???
I would have returned them. I dunno... I'd just feel weird about it.
For me, keeping them wouldn't have been about the diamonds. It would've been a big fuck-you for a 30-cent tip, and then the fact that she gave him a measly $100 after that for doing the honorable thing anyway and returning her THIRTY-ONE diamonds...
I hope somebody breaks into her house and steals everything she owns.
This story makes me really sad. NYC cabbies get so much shit. It's a crappy, dangerous job. Most of the ones I've dealt with are nice enough.
If my fare is, say, $6.20, I'll give them $8, making a $1.80 tip. And it still strikes me about how they're so appreciative of it.
I had a cabbie take me to the airport recently and the fare was about $50. I left him a $20 tip, in part because he helped me haul a huge suitcase and since it was early in the morning, he was gonna have to deal with hellish traffic into Manhattan. He said to me "I've been driving a cab for 6 years and no one's tipped me this well before". It made me a little sad.
That being said, that woman's a twatwaffle.
Maybe they were 31 really small, crappy diamonds. She would have been stupid to offer that much less than what she paid for them.
I would have kept them.
I tipped a cabbie in LA ten bucks on a $40 fare...He was Middle Eastern & didn't know what to think of a tiny lone female in a Clash T-shirt. Well, I appreciated his kindness. Union Station is a weird place.
I agree with Yekhefah, he should have kept a stone or two....LOL
I would have returned it, but not out of goodness...out of the fact that I wouldn't know what to do with them, would be too scared to try to sell them, and would be hoping for a big ol' reward.
That woman sucks. Who gives a 30 cent tip?? I'm a tip nazi, and I would NEVER tip so badly. Everever.
I wish karma was real...
Yeah if those stones had identifying #s on them.... not only would he have been stiffed in a tip, he'd end up in jail. Blargh.
Karma IS real, people! I'm a collector of people's stories in my travels (stupid artist's brain!) & I have seen plenty of people get their due good or bad, sometimes in awesomely fitting manners.
Back to the OP story.....This woman was very tacky..she should have given a better reward. The reason we don't hear more of these "Good Samaritan" stories is that most people AREN'T like the cabbie in question...
It was 31 diamond RINGS... so my guess is there was at least 200 diamonds on them.
Honestly, if someone tipped me that poorly, I probably would've kept the diamonds myself and sold them. And yeah, that woman is a cunt.
