You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
I went back to my old club and hustled my ass off. I did great for a good six hours, the shifts are 8 hours, and then all the dancing got to me and I could barely move. I snuck out early after giving the DJ a healthy tip---he is the best!
So three guys told me the exact same thing, "You know, you should be in sales." Two of the guys said this on the way to me giving them a lap dance, one said this as he put money in my garter but declined my dance.
Should I take that as a compliment...or does that mean my hustle is too obvious?
I am not complaining, they all gave me money, and that always makes me happy!
I am thinking maybe I should spent a couple nights a week at my old club. Most of the girls are too concerned with drinking, drugs or complaining to focus on making money. I could see that I was running rings around them...and I did a frigging VIP at a dirty club without taking my bottoms off. I am SOOOOOO proud of myself!!!
The Dj and a bouncer were laughing at me cause I said a clean girl CAN do VIPs at that club...and within the first half hour I sold on and proved them wrong...so there :P
But then a dirty girl spent three hours in another VIP and kicked me out of top earner position. Whatever, I love this game.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
I have got this a few times. They prob say it as a bit of a joke or to point out that they are smart enough to know that u are hustling and not really into them.
I don't think u need to worry about it tho, I always just smile or laugh when they say it.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
i get this compliment as well and accept it graciously. i see it as meaning you are doing your job well.
customer: "you should be in sales."
me: "i already am!"
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
Off course, it's a compliment.
Many customers don't see dancers as selling machines and don't expect us to have though out sales pitches or a rational way of selling dances other than "wanna dance."
I take pride in my work and make every effort to make the customer feel like he/she would have won the lottery by choosing me for a dance over the other girls.
I hear this sort of thing all the time along with why are you here you're so much better than this crap. And I say, thanks and keep it moving.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
it's a backhanded compliment... most guys dont want to be SOLD per se.. try to tone it down a bit imho.

I agree with Chrissy.
However Sunnie, I LOVE your attitude! Girl, I got a little excited when you said "I love this game". Spoken like a true hustler!!!!
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
Yeah, I hate it too when customers say that. I just play dumb when they say "you know dancing is a sales job", I just say "Huh, I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about". I find guys that say that don't buy, at least they don't from me anyway so that's my hint to move along.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
I get this from time to time. I don't like hearing it either-- but if it precedes them buying a dance, well, I guess it doesn't matter.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
He says to me "You know, you should be in sales."
Me: *wink with a sly grin* "Mmm really? Why? are you thinking of buying?" *insert stupid giggle.
Him... "what were we talking about again......" and follows me to the VIP with starry eyes.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
I would take it as a compliment! Tho' you may want to re-work your "sales pitch" to not be so obvious. Basically that is what I have learnt... whenever it is obvious I am hustling (selling) I do tend to get this compliment (sometimes with a sale following it and other times without) compared to when I 'tone down' my sales pitch as such.
As for what we specifically mean by 'tone it down'.... just don't seem like you are running off a script. Make your words more 'natural' as such. I can't really explain it per say just know that .. at times it can seem like you are selling instead of just being the friendly flirty stripper (etc).
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
You are selling yourself right?? Way to go! Keep doing what yur doing...will work for most but not the die hard regular...and who cares...they want the most for as little as possible...right?
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
I think I may be too pushy with guys that are on the fence about a dance/VIP or whatever. It works 9/10 times, but there is probably a better way to do this?
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
compliment big time, it usually leads to you walking away with him for a dance.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
What it really means is your technique is too obvious.

Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
its their rationale for spending more money on you than their original budget. if they tell you this, they wont feel as bad draining the wallet.
which means you are probably doing something right.
imho.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
If what you're doing works, it works. If 9/10 guys buy from you, woo-hoo. I hear this occasionally myself, but always from someone who's spending/has spent a lot of money on me, so I have to assume it's a good thing.
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
I take it as a compliment. I get it alot too, especially from men who are in sales for a living.

So true. "You should be in sales" tends to be followed by "give me your best pitch."
I play stupid and say, "Sales? I did work at The Gap once. I'm much better at getting naked. I'll show you." *tee-hee, giggle, giggle, bimbo laugh*
Re: You should be in sales...is that a compliment?
Of course many dancers could work in sales and there are some very good ones out there! I had a dancer friend who worked at my office in FL, made good money for the company and for herself in summer time.
