White, some Portuguese, and 1/4 Native American.
White.;D
I can't say European because honestly, I consider myself American Caucasian since the family history that I know is all here.
i'm white.. italian! i used to really look it when i was younger but now i dont as much. i was tan year round then, too :(
Afro-Carribean / English although mostly no-one can pick what I am (-:
Me too!
I can trace my father's side back to the original colonies in the 1500's. My ancestors immigrated from England. Settled in New England and stayed there until my parents generation moved west.
My mother's side is a mix of German and Welsh. A male ancestor immigrated to the US in the late 1800's. They were part of the Amish community of Pennsylvania (or Pennsylvania Dutch, if you prefer).
So 100% American is what I consider myself.
I'm african-american, though no one usually believes me when I tell them that ...lol
Texmanian- Half texan Half Romanian
i'm nearly 50/50 irish scottish. the little bit of me that isn't either is native american and dutch. lol
oh yeah people never know im chinese.....i guess im more on the white side..plus i have big natural boos(34 dd) haha so i guess that maybe throws it off..and im not petite or anything.
my little sister looks more chinese....i guess sometimes one kid will look more like one parent, and the other one will look more like the other parent, you know?
This is so interesting learning about everyone's backgrounds, this kind of stuff intrigues me b/c its amazing how one distant relative can change how a person will look--all because of genes. its so cool!
Oh yeah, most definitely. Thats why that whole aryian idea thing makes no sense to me. "Race mixing" keeps the genes strong, lol.
I want to participate in that study where you give this lab a sample of your DNA and they can tell you where your ancestors originated from, just by analyzing your sample. I thought I saw it on the national geographic website, but when I went back to the site to find the info, it was gone. :'(
if anyone happens to know what im talking about, pls tell!
Mostly Scottish. Some German and Irish. People usually think I looked "mixed" like Mexican or Brazilian or something... *shrugs* I don't see it, lol! :)
I'm half mexican, a quarter sicilian, and the rest is a mix of english, irish and cherokee. I get mistaken for arabic and russian a lot and sometimes just plain italian and mexican. Weird combo.
Greek and Hungarian.
I recently learned that my great-grandma was a black sephardic jew. Funny, when I was younger I always thought my grandpa (her son) was just really really tan from being a Florida retiree. But it was cool finding this out because it made me feel exotic. ;)
Still, it simplifies things for me to say I'm 1/2 Jewish and 1/2 assorted european non-jewish (which in me has manifested as 1 fair-haired, green eyed, sunburn-prone regular-looking white chick). My claim to Judaism, I'll admit, has something to do with vanity, because even though I do not practic Judaism as a religion, culturally it is pretty important to me.
It's called gene mapping & for about $200 you can pay a lab to trace your heritage. They admit they can often trace your bloodlines back to certain regions but not give you EXACT racial group specification (I guess you'd have to do some detective work to fill in the rest.)
I have German, 2 kinds of American Indian (Blackfoot & Cherokee (my great great great(?) grandfather was a Blackfoot Indian chief), and Pennsylvania Dutch. I don't look mixed though.
So I suppose for the sake of this thread I'd be called "Caucasian/ American Indian Mix".
I picked white but i actually have a bit of Latin blood, a jewish ancestor from Spain, as well as family in Argentina, but everyone else is Russian, English, Israeli. I'm overall a white Jew. everyone at work thinks im irish and i let them think it but heh.. im not.
I am mixed race. Part Asian and part european.
thank you, Paige! I found the site that I was talking about. they explain the whole project--its sooo cool! I cant wait to find out what the results will be.
