Just curious to see how many of us must work dance by dance or have the option of going hour by hour.
I think not having that option would hugely limit earning potential! Unless you can sneak off to a corner and get off stage rotation......
yea, without VIP i would move to another club for sure.
I'm at a dance by dance club, but I wish we had a VIP set up with standard prices and fees. I still sell blocks of time, but it's so much easier when guys KNOW they have to pay for your time in there. I love Austin, but man, that's the first thing I would change if I could.
i like the idea, but the price at my club is too low (i think). the guys get dances at basically half price when they buy a half hour or an hour. ick.
I've actually never worked in a club with a VIP section or hourly time slots.
At my current club it is all time based. My Darwin club doesn't have a VIP room.
You have to purchase an hour or longer to be able to use the VIP room area.
Players Gold Coast - VIP - $200 per hour (Dancer receives $115) - No drink min.
No we just do dance by dance.
I wish we did have that option tho although I dont know how many guys would go with it coz as far as I know it's not a common thing in Melbourne.
Yes, can't imagine not! State the price and your city too!
Phoenix, 200 an hour, plus they have to buy a bottle.
Vegas, 400 an hour, plus drink minimum.
Spearmint Rhino has a VIP section and thus rooms. They are time based as well not just song by song ;D Goldfingers doesn't have any VIP rooms. Showgirls has the Fantasy Rooms downstairs yet I wouldn't call them VIP by a long shot.
Price by me: 300$ an hour, I get 200. But I make sure they tip me! ;D I actually get 3-400 an hour for vip.
My club has 2 kinds of 1/2 hour VIP rooms: bigger one for $410 (we get $275), smaller one for $260 (we get $175).
price:
3 songs/$100 plus $20 for 2 drinks= $120- dancer gets 90.
half hr/ $200 plus drinks= $220- dancer gets 180
hour/$400 plus drinks= $420- dancer gets 360
3 songs $100 $30 drink tab
1/2 hour $300 $100 drink tab
1 hour $500 $250 drink tab.
House does NOT take a cut of the hourly rate.
I didn't vote because I'm not working in a club currently, but I've worked in clubs with and without hourly VIP rooms.
I'd have to say I prefer to work WITH them for sure. More opportunities to maximize your time are always a good thing!
my club only charges $100 for a half hour, $200 for an hour :-\ ...the house doesn't take any of it, but we are required to give 10% to the dj.
I don't like VIP. I'd rather work dance by dance. I usually don't want to get to know the customers that well and prefer to have the option of just walking away at the end of a song if he is grossing me out somehow.
I'm really okay with the pay cut. I'd rather enjoy my work and be picky about my customers and earn less.
*this could be why I like bachelor parties so much. Lots of dancing and almost no interpersonal interaction.
I think dance by dance is better.. I dont really like the hourly or half hour VIP. I've worked in both types of clubs and I found I made more dance by dance. $20 a song for a 3min song... 6 songs $120 thats $120 in your pocket in like 18 minutes... and you keep that. You make say $200 in a half hour VIP and you keep what? $150... sometimes less, plus you have to go through the hassle of setting things up with the host, tipping them, waiting for the payment, waiting for her to say start/stop... you end up losing IMO.
I also prefer clubs with no VIP rooms as then I feel it is a more even playing field for everyone. No one gets a sense of "gradure" (sp?) as such because they can do VIP alot and so forth. Plus generally the clubs I have worked within who do not have VIP rooms and are dance by dance I make more money within as they are "fee only" clubs.
Usually the percentage/commission based clubs have VIP rooms (except for Darwin).
Not really, it is guaranteed money for the half hour, no stage time is key, no specials. or any other mandatory club stuff. If you sell ONE customer 6 songs, that's great, but not as common as 2-3. You have to go, hustle, take 'm to the back, wait for the song to start, pay the bouncer. A lot of time just to get those dances, when you could be booked for the money.
When I could charge whatever I wanted (oh, how I miss negotiating my own price and not having to involve a third party) it was $150 for the room, I would usually get $200 for the half. But their was no drinks or anything included AND they charged $18 a drink in their, what a fucking rip off.
