Hi! I have straight yet borderline (and I mean very minimally) wavey hair. I want it to be pin straight, so am I a good candidate for the Japanese perm? Does this even really work? Thanks!

What other processes has your hair endured? Dye? It might crap your hair out if it is dyed.
I got a Japanese perm, and I loved it. I got it for cheap in Beijing, and I don't have $350+ to have it done here in the US. I loved it! No frizz, no worries. The only part that sucked was that I couldn't wash my hair for a week, and I couldn't even tuck my hair behind my ears or pull it back for a few weeks. It was well worth it though, as my hair was down my back at the time.
Always check to see which formula they use, and study it online. If you get different formulas at different times, it could kill y our hair.
Whats a Japanese perm?
Is a Japanese perm the same thing as a digital perm? I got mine done at a Japanese salon in Sydney for $160. The result was permanent loose curls.
Say HI to Google ;D

I had a straight perm a week ago. My hair is naturally very curly and now it is pin straight and silky, so I'm sure if your hair just has a slight wave the treatment will work on you too.
Thanks for your help...my hair is died so I'm not sure if I would be a good candidate....:(
www.verticalsinhair.com . This will tell you everything you need to know. Also search the forum, I think for Thermal Reconditioning. There was a big thread on it not too long ago.
The japanese perm suppose to keep your hair straight during the most humid weather.
i've dyed my hair every few months for the last 6 years but the treatment still worked very well on me. try to find an asian salon that provides the treatment. non-asian salons i called quoted me prices of $700-1000(!) while i got mine at an asian salon for $220.
Oh my gosh, I love this. I am not doing it right now bc my hair is damaged from extensions and dying it blonde, but it is AWESOME!! I have totally curly hair and it is COMPLETELY straight til it grows out when I do it. It is expensive, I pay 600 dollars a session, but you do it only every six months and for me who hates my curls, it is WELL worth it to be able to get out of the shower with beautiful straight shiny hair. I can not say enough good things about this treatment.
