DC/MD/VA Club Suggestions for Slightly Older African American Dancer
I haven't danced in going on 1 year. I've been working two reg jobs and I am just tired. I'm thinking about getting back into dancing. I still have my body and I don't look old, so I figure I'll give it one last try. I'm just early 30's but I have some concerns about getting hired in this area. I'm just worried that I'll suffer age or racial discrimination. The last club I auditioned at was GGC and I was sadly rejected, I've tried McDoogals years ago and I don't think they hire to many AA's. McDoogals is always advertising for dancers but when you go there it's a different story. I guess my looks are average....::) But even with average looks I should be able to get a job somewhere, right??
Hoping that I can get some suggestions on which clubs to not even bother trying out at because of my Race and/or my age. I figure I can save a lot of time and money that way. Or what clubs you think are really easy to get into. Thanks in advance.

wagon wheel (aka players club) seems to hire a wide variety of girls. check out www.playersclubinbaltimore.com
the payout seems high, but if you hustle you can make good money there. it's mainly a lapdance club.
there's also nightshift...but i'm not positive how they are about hiring. it's not too far from players club, tho...so if you're in the area, might as well inquire.
i'm not sure which clubs you shouldn't try, tho...besides camelot in dc. i dont want to even tell you to not try there, but i've seen alot of pretty girls who were turned down....
good luck

i'd say no to nightshift. from what i saw they're very picky about hiring older dancers, and there was only one black girl when i worked there.
wagon wheel would hire you for sure i bet.

I'm at Players Club (Wagon Wheel) now. They do hire a good variation of girls and I had no problem getting hired at all.

^^ hey, i didnt know that! a girl at my club is only working at my club for now while she's suspended from ww and she said she makes bank. do you mind pming me to tell me what its like? (i do love my club and probably wont leave for a while, but just for future reference ;))

Is it true they make you do a chore every night after they are closed? I keep hearing that about the wagon wheel but it sounds too ridiculous to be true.

Never worked in MD,but curiosity got the best of me...a chore?? What kind?

Yes we do ifact have to clean up the club once it closes. Every girl does something like wipe down tables, vacuum, wipe down the stages, clean the mirrors. It's really easy though because it's a small club. It takes about 5 minutes. I actually don't mind.

Actually doesn't sound bad (ridiculous) at all. I mean, ya clean your desk/area at an office job. I always find myself sprucing stuff at my home club anyway, and we even have a cleaning crew.
I'm just happier when things are tidy.

come to guam, paid airfare and housing, dancing mostly for military boys on a tropical island, and its still in the USA, we could use some girls at the club i work at ; plus there are two military bases of men on a 30 mile long island and lack girls, so you can be slightly older or thicker (me) and make the same money if you have personality.

I would like to update my advice. I did not do so well here and I went back to my old club. I hate stuggling to make money. It is very regulars based and of course I had none. So back to the Mile High I went. I'm happy and comfortable again. There was money there though so try it out if you want.
