My big decision
I've made the decision today to quit my lame office job to dance full-time. I had the mindset for awhile that I had to have a "real job" to fill that resume gap and make my parents happy. But I havent been happy since I started that stupid job. I only made 8 bucks an hour there and knowing I could have made between 200-500 instead didnt help my morale. I've been dancing part time for three years and was always happier dancing.
Woohoo!
Of course, I do have a goal to go back to school to become a veterinary technician a year from this September.
Anyway, I am stoked because I know if I am just dancing I will make so much more money and have so much more freedom!
I've set some dancing goals for myself too---do an ad for the club, and win a couple of the stripper contests in Portland!

Re: My big decision
Don't get too excited, not to be a party pooper, but stripping isn't easy. A lot of contests are rigged as well and don't expect to be making 2-500 as a newbie. It's hard work and can be down right shitty sometimes, it's not always a walk in the park. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you other wise. With that said, best of luck hun.

Re: My big decision
Maybe I should have specified that I am definately not a newbie, just have been dancing part-time for three years.
So I know all of that, thanks.

Re: My big decision
Yes, specifying that would have helped.

Re: My big decision
I say congrats... I love the freedom my job gives me.
Good luck

Re: My big decision
Enjoy! I predict you will have a very fun year. Now's the time to travel, too.

Re: My big decision
Awesome! Good luck. I've been supporting myself entirely on dancing since I got my degree back in May and it's a great feeling. (Make sure to get a few months' bills saved)
I'd advise finding great animal opportunities in volunteering also (maybe check the volunteers section in craigslist and community postings) to find lots of free work you can do for organizations that also look amazing on your resume.

Re: My big decision
Yeah, I am definately going to be doing some volunteering! I am going to volunteer at the Humane Society and I am also training my dog to become a therapy dog. I think I'm going to work 4 or 5 shifts a week at the club and spend a few days a week doing work with animals.

Re: My big decision
Hey, good for you!!! I have also been stripping parttime (2x per week) for a few years while holding down a full time job but have never been able to take the plunge and quit - as much as I'd love to. Good luck!
