dancing for an hourly wage/no tips
I apologize if this question seems silly, but are there any places on the East Coast where you can dance for an hourly wage (or a nightly wage) without having to work for tips (I believe this was mentioned at stripper-faq.org)? I ask because I'm a bit on the shy side :-[. Thanks :).
Re: dancing for an hourly wage/no tips
Not that I know of. I'll be honest even if they did have a club like that, I dont see how it could be very beneficial for you.
I'm shy as well...it took me a few years to get the courage to actually go dance. You need to sit down and decide if dancing is really somethign you want to do. Read Hustle Hut. It's full of quirky intro techniques for you to try. Girls on SW have been dancing for YEARS so they definately have some valid points, and hustle techniques for you.
Re: dancing for an hourly wage/no tips
If you can find go-go/stage focused clubs then you make your tips on stage and that really doesn't require a great hustling technique. It would also help you become less shy as taking off your clothes in front of strangers has that effect.

^ thats a good idea.
but there are TONS of strippers who are shy outta the club but inside the club environment, remember, you are not yourself. you are a whole new persona. there's no better time than to fake being outgoing! my best friend is very outgoing at work but fairly shy outside.
Re: dancing for an hourly wage/no tips
I was actually in a club the other night where the girls are paid a nightly wage. It was a divey little go-go bar in west paterson, nj, with 5 girls on a sat night, one small stage inside a square shaped bar. The girls got paid $50 a shift, collected tips, and sold $20 lap dances in weird little plywood stalls, turning $10 over to the house. It didnt really seem like many men were there to get dances or even look at the girls. The dancers were far from attractive and just sort of swayed around looking bored and checking their phones while on stage.
There may be more clubs like this around, but I would really rather work the taco stand in the mall before dancing all night for whatever measely money these girls were making. If you're serious about dancing and making money just suck it up and try a variety of different local clubs. Find one where you feel comfortable (can you just talk up one or two guys all night and make your money from champagne rooms? Can you just go around and ask for dances without having to really converse with the guys?) like everything else it will get easier with time.
good luck!

I say just take the plunge. I used to really shy, but dancing has helped me to become so much more outgoing, at work and in my normal life. Better to get over it sooner, IMO.
