Re: History of Striptease?
Well, I think this site has everything I need for now. Maybe you'd like to have a look.

Re: History of Striptease?
If it's something you are pursuing further I have a great book called Burlesque and the New Bump and Grind. There's also a burlesque forum I use though they have been guilty of stripper snobbery on a few occasions >:(
Re: History of Striptease?
And good luck with your presentation.
Re: History of Striptease?
I don't know, but you should mention in your opening statement or introduction that erotic dance is as old as written human history, or maybe older.
There are paintings of erotic dancers in Egypt, going back thousands of years. Then of course there's the infamous Salome, and the Dance of the Seven Veils, etc., etc.
Re: History of Striptease?
That is the opening line of my presentation. I'm going to quickly go into the cancan in France, then how burlesque quickly changed over time. I'm placing pictures on my big ass blank poster, so I may steal these:p
Thanks so much!
I do wish I could have gotten more help from some of you guys....disappointing:(

Yep, striptease started in ancient Sumer.
Re: History of Striptease?
Apparently the descendants of the ancient Nubian dancers in Egypt still do simular dances today. I remember seeing a documentary about it a few years ago.

Re: History of Striptease?
I found two other pictures that are better than the first two, but still really too small to stand blowing them up very large.
I have to work the next two nights, but will try to find something better. I think the trick is to search for scholastic type sites and go from there, not just do an image search for "Egyptian dancers" as I did.
Moments later--damn, it says I have exceeded my quota for uploading pictures, even after I deleted some older ones.
Well, I could e-mail them if you want, but they aren't much bigger.
PM me if you are interested.
