Good Lord you've been hard at work! looks great!
That kind of hurts my eyes. How'd you make them? They're pretty.
Lol, thanks guys!
Theyre not hard to make. Theyre just tubing joined and covered with tape, lol.
They look like fun!
you should mak 1 more, so you'd have 20. 20 is a much nicer number.
Lol - very true! I still have another 50 or so metres of tubing left... I also own a few hoops that I bought so I have 24 right now - 25 would be better though. I am taking orders now for hoops too, so maybe I shall just not stop for a long time! :-D
Am I still your guinea pig when I get home? It seems you have found some "sparkly" tape as it looks like on some of those hoops. I will give a few of them a go when I get home as I have been practicing up here in Darwin ;D
I totally want one! ;D Might buy from you instead of that hooping site I mentioned (you know what I'm speaking about) as I will save on postage... especially if the hoop works.
Yes, Ive made you two as I have 2 main different types. Theyre sitting by the bookcase currently - what day are you bck, Ill try to drop them in before I take off (-:
I am back as per underneath my avatar here on stripperweb april 16th (monday next week)... I won't be human til Tuesday since I arrive back on Monday at some god awful time of the morning (red eye flight).
Tuesday 17th or thereafter will be good for me! ;D
Lol - oh yeah i didnt see that! Tuesday is good to as school goes back then. I shall take off on Wed / Thurs i think - unless of course i get my arse to CH - I am verytempted to try it for 2 weeks then go interstate, hmmm (-:
Try it for two weeks..............even a week! I wanna know what it is like over there. I wanna know if things are the same or have changed or what.... go to CRAZY HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool can i buy one next time you're down here?
I need an itty bitty one.
I'm 5 foot and the size of hoop you need needs to be able to stand up to your belly button when standing as such therefore an itty bitty one would not suit you.
You'll be surprised at how big a hula hoop for adults is and how you can go bigger if you so choose (yet you will also "pump" slower).
GIMME MY HOOPS!!! (still waiting)
I will post pics as soon as Jow does gimme the hoops so I can be her guinea pig! ;D
Haha Thats awesome work! You have done well!
^^^ Thanks - Ive ust started on another 20 or so, lol.
Jaizaine, pink is really hard to do because its hard to get pretty couloured tape here. I found some in Kmart but its actually shitty tape and 1 roll doesnt even make up one hoop and costs too much to make it worthwhile buying enough to make a hoop. I shall keep searching though cos your the 3rd person whos asked me for a pink hoop! (-:
I got three of them! WOOT! ;D
Will be giving them a decent go on Sunday hopefully.
Note to "Lucy Blue" >> Compared to my current hoops they are much lighter and more "flexible" if that makes sense? My current hoops are rather rigid and don't 'wobble' so much as such. They were made by "Blueberry" over at tribe.net forums. You may want to ask her what tubing she used for my hoops since you are making them.
I gave them a quick "whirl" tonight. The one that is the most lightest was trouble-some to hoop yet okay to do off-body moves/tricks... didn't hurt my hand as such.
I guess I'm used the rigid-ness of my practice hoop. I will order one of Bunny's hoops to also compare that to yours and Blueberry's hoops...
Are you sure?
When I carried your hoop it seemed much lighter than my main hoops. I remember because it surprised me at the time! It appeared to be made of standard 19mm irrigation hose which is what two of the hoops I gave you are made of, and to be unfilled, which surprised me at the time again. (one of mine is filled). Im pretty expert at picking all that, lol!
The other hoop is my preferred hoop and heavier than alot of people are making from what I can make out after much net surfing. Ive spent alot of time looking to see how others are making their hoops and what theyre using aswell as spending hours and hours finding out whats available for hoop making. Theres not alot of variety (-:
Try again tomorrow - when I made my first hoop I thought it was the same weight as Bunnys and so did my mum. Its hard to tell at first! Im just becomming somewhat of an expert now though because Ive made so many hoops and experimented a fair bit. Ive checked out more hardwear stores than a jaded tradesmen and have asked so many people in plumming and irrigation about pipes and tubing. I also checked with my friend about the pipe because her and her family are in the buisness. When she went to the wearhouse for me she checked the different types of tubing and couldnt come up with much.
The "Rasta" hoop should be simular to yours, the red, white and blue one a touch heavier and the sparkly one should be much heavier. (Size differences taken into consideration of course.)
Those are so cool, and so's the site with instructions! I bought a hoop on impulse at a drugstore a few weeks ago and didn't realize that they needed to be up to your bellybutton; now I will go in search of a larger one and have some fun. Any links to tutorials on hooping? Videos?
There are HulaHooping videos all over YouTube. Also there are Hooping forums at tribe.net ... there there is the HoopGirl (www.hoopgirl.com) DVD which I highly recommend (and classes since you are in the US)... and there this is Hooping.org website... there are heaps and heaps of resources on the internet.
It's made life easy for someone like me who is teaching herself.
As for Lucy's hoops, I will give them a go again shortly and report back.

Cool! I like them. They look like candy ;)
I used to try about 7 of them at once, with a couple around the neck and all down the body...great workout! And sexy if done right i bet.
But damn i sucked at 7 of them. I can only do 2 at a time. Fun! ;)
Brings back memories. My daughter has 1 in her room i may pull out tomorrow now. :)
I gave them a real proper 'spin' earlier today.
I dunno. The piping still seems rather more flexible and pliable than my hoops I already have...
The "rasti" one as I call it (and you referred to) which is the lightest of the three you gave me is way too light. It is rather hard to work with "on the body". Off the body movements it is a pleasure to work with tho' as it is so easy to maneaour and doesn't hurt the hand. My only concern is whether it will get bent out of shape easier since it is so light etc. We'll see I guess....
The other two worked out wonderfully in the end. It was all of a matter of giving them a proper "whirl" as such. ;) It must be because the piping you are using is more pliable/flexible or whatever that it doesn't hurt so much to use them on or off the body.
Just FYI, the red one I chose is rather noisy to use.. and it isn't just the red decorative contact or whatever you used that makes it noisy to use... something in the hoop itself moving .. I dunno what.. just that I call it the noisy one. ;D
It will be interesting to see how it goes if I use one of the ones you gave me and one my ones at the same time... yet i havn't gotten to the multiple hoop stage yet. I just want to 'dominate' all the moves on the HoopGirl DVD before I even think about adding a second hoop (or any more).
