Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Compared to acquaintances who work 9 to 5's, do you ever feel ashamed of making so much more in a night or two or three than they do in a week?
I meant to type "do you feel guilty for making minimally 200+". Sorry. I was reading some of your posts and I read where 200wasn't that great to make.
Many people working reg jobs don't even make that but we can.
I hate that we don't have a job where we could match 401k's with our employers. Alot of us would be uber rich. lol

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
not a chance. What I'm doing can hurt my future opportunities as a former stripper is less likely to be taken seriously than one of "the good ole boys". My time is very important to me. If one of my friends is toiling away at a minimum wage job, thats her problem. I choose to strip for the money, the flexibility, and other perks that come with the job. If someone wants to work a minumum wage job and not risk future opportunities, thats their choice. I choose to strip, and have free time.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
not at all. i put up with a helluva lot more shit than they ever do at their crappy jobs.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Nope, not at all. Everyone makes choices in their lives, and the choices we happened to make just so happens to have a lot of money that comes along with it.
In my mind, we deserve every penny we get for what we do. Regardless of what many people think, it's not an easy job. We put up with a lot-from custys, dancers we work with and society in general looking down on us simply for what we choose to do as a profession.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Why the fuck would I feel guilty?
Maybe if I had a friend who really wanted to dance, but wasn't pretty enough, then I'd feel a tiny bit bad. But I work fucking hard! And I deserved every 20 i make!

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
i do.
i hate the fact that my friends are living off $100 a week while spending 30 hours studying at uni, and tryign to squeeze in another 20 hours of work to be able to survive.
but at the same time, they couldnt do what i do, and i couldnt do what they do.
still, yeah, i feel pretty shitty when i can afford to do whatever, and not think before blowing a few grand on something frivilous.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
i don't feel bad, but i do try to be considerate and not rub it in, you know?
but honestly, for what we deal with in this industry, i would feel a hell of lot worse about making less than my 9-5 friends than i would about making more...

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Dancing allows me the time to follow my dreams, support myself and go to college.
Plus going through a divorce sucks so if I'm feeling stressed I don't have to go to
work. I feel blessed that I can make the money I make, not greedy.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
I don't feel bad relative to my friends, because they could strip if they wanted to, but I feel bad relative to people who don't have the opportunities (or who have much less opportunity) to make lotsa cash...like someone in rural China or something.
I feel a bit spoiled, too. Like "yay, I'm lucky I was born pretty and skinny!". But attractiveness is just one advantage that we all maximize...nothing wrong with working with what you've got.
Ashamed though? Never ever.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
that doesn't even make sense in this context. do you ask consultants getting 150 an hour if they feel guilty that they make waaaay more than 9-5 workers?
greymarket work has to (ought to) pay well because it carries costs that civilian work doesn't. it is not like other work, and is compensated accordingly.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
If I make $200-$400 Im pissed that it's not enough. We are taking our clothes off in front of strangers for f**ks sake.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
I agree. I looked again at this title. if I only make two hundred, I'm uber pissed! b/c it means the club isn't doing their job (getting custys in!)

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
No, it makes me feel worthy.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
lolololol
i must agree that we have a hard job. i mean hell, our feet and backs ache for one. we deal with shitty customers at times for two. some of us have to travel far far away from home in lands unknown for three.
i hate my less than 50 nites and love my 500+ nites too.
i'm still searching for a place near home that's not 1/2 a day away where i would be grateful to earn 1500-2000 consistently. and that is a far far cry from 300-400/wk that my acquaintances are bringing in.
now if i can just stop procrastinating and get back on my grind. i must get my priorities straight as far as how long and hard i want to work at this. i shudder at the thoughts of working a 9-5 and barely making it. i have waaaaaay to many expenses now.
but ladies, thankyou all for your input.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
I'm with LM. I feel entitled to that money. We are working a "taboo" form of employment (no matter how liberal your friends etc may seem there is always going to be a stigma attached to what we do for a business).
I put my body through alot of pain at times and strain to do what I do constantly. I am entitled to that money if not more! Not just my body... my sanity at times as well... dealing with other dancers, the patrons, the customers, the managers, etc.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Hell no!! Our job is not just a job, if you include the social stigma attached to it plus the psychological damage it does to us, we more than deserve every penny we make!!!
-
Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Not at all. Plus I don't take to any of my friends about how much they make a week. I don't even know.
-
Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
No! I've worked more than a few 9-5's and you can never compare the two. The mental pressure you can get from a dayjob isn't nothing like the mental pressure of being a dancer and vice versa.
That's like saying a person who make $250,000 in his dayjob does he feel guilty for the man who only makes $28,000/year? Of course not

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Never!!! I'm actually pissed if I only made $200, that's an insult as far as I'm concerned!

I second that one. If my friends want to make the money that I do, then a job at my club is always welcome. If I wanted to make what they do I'm sure I could get a job where ever they work. But in the same breath I will always help my friends out with money if they needed it.

Re: Does making $200+ make u feel a bit greedy?
Not really, it may seem easy, but dealing with assholes and pricks can be draining.
