behind those double doors
So get this, a couple nights ago, this geeky looking older guy comes up to the booth, looking kind of uncertain, but resolved nonetheless to speak to me, even if I tried to look busy (which I was). His was one of the strangest combinations of fear and determination I have ever seen. I do believe he was being courageous, in fact.
He goes "Hey, that's my friend over there, it's his 40th birthday.", pointing to another geeky guy. This other guy looked younger, but worse. Pants too high on the waist, even sitting down it was obvious instantly. Thin, out of shape, and the worst combination of receding hair line and puffed up hair ever. If it was my 40th birthday and I looked that bad, I'd slash my wrists.
"Can you give him a dance for his birthday?"
"Can I what?!"
"Could you take him behind those double doors and have a girl dance for his birthday?" The guy's for real. He really doesn't have a fucking clue what's going on in the club.
"Well, sure, not a problem--if you pay them money they'll dance for him all you want!" I'm trying to be nice, he's a customer, but definitely dropping the big hint, there. Thinking that ought to make it clear, jesus. Now he'll go away, lol.
But no, the guy wasn't done yet. Even though he was still obviously intimidated, he forced himself to ask "What about afterwards?", in a quavering voice.
In my last club, I could have set him up with any number of them (actually I can say I never did that, other than by selling a shitload of VIPs, which is the same damned thing), half of them were turning tricks in and out of the club.
But here? Not going to happen.
"Wrong club for that, man. Wrong club."
It felt good to be able to say that, lol.
Re: behind those double doors
So, in addition to all the other things on your resume, you should now add "PIMP"?;)
Ugh, I can't believe that in this day and age, people are still so clueless. But kudos for keeping your cool.
Re: behind those double doors
Yeah, somewhere around here (I think in that pimp thread, lol) I have confessed to it. It is weird to think about.
Re: behind those double doors
Haha, at first when I read this thread, I thought he was asking YOU to give his friend a dance behind the double doors! I was like, woah, doesn't this guy first of all know you're a DJ and secondly doesn't he know this is not a gay club! Then I read the rest and was still flabbergasted of what the guy was asking! I seriously think there should be some kind of stripclub ettiquete book out there and it be in every club and make every customer read it and sign that they read it or something. Or at least have a few policies written on a little sign at the tables and in the bathroom stalls so people will get a little bit better understanding. One club I was at had some ettiquete policies in the ladies room, I thought it was a great basically saying the dancers work off of dances and tips, please don't just sit there, tip the dancer on stage, be respectful, no dancing allowed on the floor by customers, etc.

The way he said it the first time, "Can you give him a dance for his birthday?", made me think the same thing, lol. My reaction to his question didn't help him achieve any greater eloquence, though.
Years of dealing with customer requests had steeled me to the horrible possibility of being asked to play Abba or some such schlock, but not being asked to BE the entertainment. It is Key West, lol--but that's not what he meant--he was just out of his element and babbling like an idiot.
Re: behind those double doors
>>It is Key West, lol
ROFLMAO!!!
