...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Ok- I am going to be blunt because this is both frightening, hurting, and disgusting me- and beating around the bush never gets anything done.
I have NO idea what is up with my vagina, but I know it can't be good, and I was hoping ya'll could give me some pointers as to what it might be so I can actually sleep tonight.
And yes, I am going to the doctor's FIRST THING in the morning.
My labia are extremely dry, like FLAKING, but there is yeasty-smelling whitish discharge , my clit looks enlarged as do my lips, and the entire area hurts like hell. It doesn't ITCH, but HURTs more like a UTI, but i've had one of those and these other factors were NOT there. and there is a LOT of discharge, making my underwear stick to my lips... OW let's just say this is f*cking painful.
Here are the circumstances: I am not in a relationship, I haven't had sex in forever and a half and when I did the last time (3 weeks ago) it was protected, I have a terrible diet because of the bulimia, I am prone to yeast infectections anyway, but these past few days I have been on Penicillan and Methylprednisolone (a mind steroid) to prevent infection and take away inflammation from my recent 4 crowns on my teeth- could this be having an effect? (I started heavy acidophilus doses as soon as I saw penicillan... like I said, I am prone to yeasties.) so, any thoughts on my disgusting situation? :-\ :-\ :-\ I'm pissed I had to take off work today....

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
it could be a yeast infection, or maybe your allergic to a new detergent?
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
I don't have a clue, hopefully your doctor will, and hopefully it will be easy to remedy.

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Penicillin causing a huge yeast infection that's painful instead of itchy? Makes sense to me.

I get yeasties all the time... this is NOT a yeast infection. I wish it were that easy, trust me... this seems like a Yeast + UTI plus some fucked-up bacteria that crawled in there and DIED on me.
hah- maybe this is my pussy's way of telling me I need to get laid.... "if you don't use it, you lose it???" :-\

Really??? why would the pain be there and not the itch??? that would be GREAT if that were it....
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Yes, it definitely would be. Sometimes an itch can be so strong the body registers it as pain instead. Antibiotics cause really BAD yeasties, they're KNOWN for it.. so it's probably 10x worse than what you've ever had before.

thank god (and thank YOU, LM)... i hope that's it. I had no idea about the body registering itching as pain if the "degree of itch" is strong enough- wow. Yeah, I stopped the steroid/penicillan last night- I was put on them more preventatively than anything, but I am just taking 1-2 vicodins for the pain in my teeth instead- god that was a lot of prescriptions they gave me (vics, a steroid, and penicillan?? yikes!! and of course, my PUSSy is the thing that always tells me what the rest of my body is up to. couldn't it my left finger or something less innocuous as a stripper??) all I needed was something for the pain, so the vics will do for a few days, then I'll switch to advil... hopefully I won't need anything soon, but man these crowns still HURT.
well, I'm really hoping that's what it is, and not a bacteria or something ELse. ugh. I just wish my pussy were a bit less... susceptible?

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Sounds like my friends symptoms when she had chlamydia. I would definitely go to the doctor, just to make sure it isn't something serious.

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Sounds liek a yeast infection to me. But a really bad one. Antibiotics do cause yeast infections. In fact...I always ask for a prescription for diflucan every time I get antibiotics, just caue I know that the yeast infection is soon to follow. And when i get yeast infections..I do get the swollen clit..the pain.....
See the dr. for some Diflucan.
Maybe try some monistat for relief tonight

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Thrush is oral candidiasis, which is a yeast infection in your mouth.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Thrush is the European term for yeast infection in general.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Sounds like a really bad yeast infection especially given your current medication and diet problems. The bad news about YI is that is your prone to them they can just keep on getting worse and or effect other parts of your body / wellbeing. Alot of people have problems with candida - myself included - see my anti-candida diet thread a while back.

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Ahh yes I do see Thrush is euro-speak...
and here's something that confirms most of my symptoms (thank god... still don't understand the flaking, though, but i suppose that's just dryness/soreness.)
Symptoms
The telltale signs of thrush include itching, burning, soreness, swelling of the vagina and vulva (outer area of the vagina), and a yeasty-smelling discharge. You may have one symptom or several, and symptoms can range from mild to severe.
Itching and burning
These are the most common symptoms of thrush and often the most distressing. Burning and itching can be so intense it is difficult to resist scratching, but scratching will only make the problem worse.
Soreness, swelling and pain
Thrush irritates the delicate tissue of the vagina and genital area, making it sore, swollen and red. As a result, it may be painful to urinate (urine will sting the inflamed tissue). It may also be painful to have sex. In some cases, anything that touches or rubs the area, including sitting and walking, can be painful.
Discharge
Discharge caused by thrush is usually (but not always) white and thicker than a woman’s regular discharge. The ‘typical’ discharge linked to thrush is yoghurt-like in appearance and smells strongly of yeast. Some women, however, have a watery or mild-smelling discharge. The amount can also vary from a little to a lot.
Aussie- yeah, I do what I can... I take acidophilus daily, and I am working on the diet... I worked in a nutrition/health products store for a long time so I know what to do- just a bit harder to apply the knowledge on a personal level sometimes. :-\ but i love your naturopathic angle... seems to work better than most anything else.

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Omg girl, I feel your pain... I just got over a YI like that a few weeks ago... prolly the worst one I've ever had, and I got it from taking antibiotics, as well. I took a Diflucan after I finished the antibiotics (the Monistat creams and suppositories don't do jack shit for me,) and that cleared it right up.
I notice that I get them when I take antibiotics, change bodywash, breathe the wrong way haha... I've been taking probiotics and it seems to help some... I also bought some Rephresh because I heard that can help too, but I haven't tried it yet.

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
sounds like a horrid yeast infection. I once had one that bad girl. Seriously it can be that bad.
Ask for the pill not the cream treatment.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Hope you feel better soon! If you are prone to yeast infections, I would always ask for the Diflucan when prescribed antibiotics, like K said. My friends gets them really often and always has a script for it on hand, just in case it's over the weekend and she cant get to the doctor.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
It does sound like a really bad YI. Diflucan will help. Any time I am prescribed anitibiotics, I tell the Dr. to throw in some Diflucan for good measure.
In the meantime, maybe some Monistat will help.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
got it.... will ask for Diflucan asap at 8:00 am in the morning... ;D thank you for the advice, i HATE when things aren't "normal" down there because it always makes me paranoid... and usually for no reason.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
I think it's yeast too. If you're going to treat it with over the counter creams like Monistat, use a 7 day package. I know it sucks (especially with dancing) but they really work better than the 1 or 3 day treatments.
Other things you can do:
Eat a lot of leafy green vegetables and whole grains (complex carbs like brown rice, wholegrain pasta and whole wheat bread) rather than simple carbs (white bread, white pasta, white rice)
Avoid sugar at all costs
Don't drink alcohol
Let your cooter "breathe" by not wearing panties
If you have to wear panties, wear white cotton ones
No tampons, douching or sex!
I noticed that when I took Vics recreationally, they sort of "dried me out" and it made me more susceptible to yeast growth.
A whole clove of garlic (peeled but not cut in any way) placed just inside the vagina overnight for 3 days works as a natural antifungal agent and can often cure YIs. Just push it out with your muscles in the morning.
And definitely look into unscented, natural soap (I love Tom's of Maine). Body washes and scented girly things can totally annoy your vag's natural Ph.

Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Hmm....I knew a woman who when she had a yeast infection, she would put a brick of cheese down her pants. Said it cured yeast infections. She said you had to get the stinkiest cheese you can find, as its more potent and will work better. She swore by it. Just sit with cheese in yrou undies for a day, and that will cure you.
I was never brave enough to try out that remedy. I'd rather just get soem diflucan.
Anyway...Alexxa reminded me of that...but garlic is actually proven to work.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
Yep, it's a bad YI. I unfortunately get those frequently.
-
Re: ...LOVEly... what the hell is going on down there...
yep- gotta be yeast- i had saved the "external vulvar cream" from the monistat packages and slathered (...eeeww) it on there as I posted this last night... and it is a LOT better right now. *phew* I may therefore skip the diflucan, get the entire monistat pack (they always work for me) and NEVER take all those meds at once again... mah cooter don't like crazy-ass med combos none. :O
