I guess I still don't get it, why are you filing a claim after 1 day? The seller took your money after you sent it....um, isn't that their right? They sell you something, you pay?

I was nervous because they didn't contact me when they did it. I feel much better now. It's really more a tendency to panic than anything with the auction. Thanks, everyone.
Once you send the seller the money, it's there's to do what they please with; I have NEVER contacted a buyer informing them that I was using their money they sent...
^^^^ many people send a notification that they have received payment, sometimes they will send a message, letting you know when they willbe sending out the item.
I usually send a message saying I have just paid with paypal and that I would like to know if they have received payment.. This way I can start up some sort of communication with the seller. Many will write back immediately and let me know when to expect the items.
Guess I don't have that problem; I send out all items the next day.
^^^ I do too, but some people take the money and run... Or at least take thier sweet time sending stuff out. Grrrrr... that always stresses me out .
Clark,
Just so you know you can make ebay autonotify people if you get their payment. This guy probably just didn't click that option and he was probably asleep. let him get to you.
So today the seller got back to me to let me knwo he already sold this to someone else. I requested a refund. It hasn't arrived yet. THis make the third Xbox 360 I've bought unsuccessfully.
Well thats bullshit. He sells it privately even though he has a winning bidder? No wonder his feedback is crap. I'd leave him neg feedback for that...you could have maybe missed out on another auction because you THOUGHT you had this one....Wait for him to leave feedback first though, that way he cant leave retalitory feedback.
He claimed he would have canceled the auction, but couldn't. It's actually quite possible to cancel an auction with bids and eBay's help pages give simple directions on this. Tosser.
Yes, if you don't receive the item you can get a full refund from paypal. Paypal does not screw around with that. If the seller can't provide tracking that is trackable ONLINE, paypal will refund you lickity split. Just don't go filing a dispute yet though. Give them time to actually ship and send you tracking. Like, a couple days anyway. Not everyone is able to ship immediately....
Another thing. Paypal would NOT be able to tell you if the seller "took" the money right after you sent it, so you've apparently misunderstood something. I deal with them all the time and they WON'T tell you something like that. All they could say is that, right after you send, the seller receives the money. Doesn't mean anything regarding your transaction though. If you don't receive the item, you file a dispute and paypal will remove the funds from their account until the dispute is settled, one way or another.
Annnnnnnnd. NO you can't end an auction on ebay if it's less than 12 hours to auction close. You can before that time, but once the countdown is under 12 hours, you canNOT close it no matter what. I think the guy was probably being legit and you have just freaked yourself out over nothing. Geeeezuz.
Contrary to what some of yall might think, sellers aren't always sitting there waiting for a notification and payment to come in so they can quick pack it up and ship it out that very second. Sometimes they sleep, eat, fart, run errands....
;D
Final result: he shipped nothing, PayPal only recovered 2/3 of my money and when i tried to file fraud charges the cops told me it was a civil matter. My attempts to track him down so as to file civil charges have been unsuccessful. It seems the system has no real penalty for stealing. Basically, I'll get my money back if PayPal's collection agency comes through at some point in the future.
I'm so sorry this happened to you ! I wish I would've seen your thread when you first started it. I could've been of more help. You have to get the seller right away or they'll continue to remove monies quickly so that no one can extract it from them..The good news is since you've filed your depute it overdraws his account and he'll have to replenish it in order to use it. Unless of course he's opened another one.
You can always file a small claims lawsuit, I don't know how much more you'll get back if you do.
I had this happen to me twice on eBay ( and with PP) and never got my $$ back .
ah nuts. that sucks!
I'm sorry to hear that, that really sucks! I'm guilty of always letting the $ come out of my checking too.
So what exactly is Buyer Protection then? Does the seller actually need to have money in their paypal account in order for you to receive a refund? That's bullshit!
*note to self: always use the credit card from now on for paypal purchases*
Oh no! :(
Buyer protection only gets you full protection if the seller is 50+ & 98%+ or if they have the money in their account.
Man that sucks.
I've had to learn that some people take a few weeks to get back to you. I find when they are running a Small to Medium size operation in ebay, they will often take a week or two before responding.
With selling, I've always been a bastard. I put in the auction, that they have three days to make initial contact with me. Fail to do so, and I cancel. After initial contact they have seven days to pay, fail to do so or fail to come to an arranagement with me, and I cancel. I've only had to follow through twice.
Also these days, I refuse to pay, until I hear from the seller. I even go to the point of making sure they are available before I send payment. (unless the auction gives me details otherwise).
I am an ebay seller. First, to the OP do not worry yet.
Somethings to check on feedback even if their rating is below 90%: 1. How many feedbacks is actually posted. If they have fewer than 10, 1 negative is going to cause a dramatic drop in their feedback.
2. Some buyer's can be extremely picky or they do not read the auction listings. So always read what you can about the negative feedback, to see if it was a deserved negative. (A good example: Have any of you ever worked as a store clerk or any customer service job and ran into a nasty customer and nothing you could do would please them?)
I have not had this experience yet and hope I never do. I used to sell under the name under candiwv_ and changed to gethotlingerie to more accurately describe my business.
As far as shipping goes. I do add a little to my shipping. This offsets cost of packaging material, invoice material, and time spent on preparing packages. Basically my auction items are at cost, every once and awhile I might make a few dollars off of one. The store items is where I make money. A good example: This weekend I had seven auctions ending. #1 auction lost $4, #2 lost $1, #3made $1,
#4 made $3, #5 lost $2, #6 lost $5, #7 made $3. This includes padded shipping, I rounded up or down to get even numbers. But as you can see for these seven auctions I lost $6. Which I do not mind doing, as I am trying to build up my feedback for this name.
Another thing is alot of satisfied customers do not leave feedback. There is no way to account for these customers.
eBay and PayPal do take care of buyer's first. So any unpleasant transaction, try to arrange a satisfactory arrangement with buyer, if that does not appear to be possible. File a dispute with eBay.
Oh and it does cost alot to ship from Hong Kong and China, because the only thing they have for packages is Express or Registered mail service. I learnt this at the post office the other day.
Have fun ebaying everyone!

Have fun ebaying everyone!:)
I once bought something from someone and they never sent the item. I filed a dispute with Paypal and I got my money back within 30 days.
So don't worry.
Argh, in one week I have had to file my first 'Item Not Received' claim AND had UPS damage my shipment to a buyer and had to refund :(
Guys this thread is OLD OLD OLD... I'm sure he's no longer worrying...
