I tip in the casino. I play blackjack, and I don't tip the dealer on every hand, but if I'm doing well I do tip occasionally. When I get blackjack and get that extra 50% win, I usually tip that to the dealer. They appreciate it, and it usually pays off for me in the long run because they'll help me win. I almost always win at blackjack, so it must work.
tipping dealers in casinos is standard
Yes, a common misconception about casinos is that dealers bank. In some high end joints they make good money, but thats usually because high end joints have richer people who give bigger tips. In most low end casinos they make minimum wage.
The etiquette for tipping casino dealers usually varies depending on the game. Craps is a bit complicated, so I usually just wait until the end and if I had a good run, tip $2-5, maybe $1 if I was close to even. I usually don't tip if I took a beating.
I think their guideline for stage tipping in an "exotic club" is a bit high and overly simplistic, but for reasons all too obvious, I won't elaborate here on SW.
They say to tip your manicurist $1? Geez.
I disagreed completely on the delivery driver tips. And her "Delivery" category wasn't for delivery or drivers, it was for carryout. Her "delivery driver" category only included people who mass deliver from multiple places, and excluded pizza, Chinese, and deli drivers.
Tipping contractors? That's definitely not done around here or my boy would be making bank.
I wish more people thought to tip their tattoo artists. I always OVER tip them because if I am paying, I know that they are good. You should only get tattoos that are exceptional, IMO. If I'm getting a free tattoo (which is most of the time), I make sure to hook them up with some cash anyway. Tattooing is hard work!
Also, the only people that tipped me when I did housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in high school were Japanese businessmen. They would leave a neat and crisp $1 bill on each pillow that was slept on. Very rarely did anyone else leave anything except a huge mess.
oh crap, I haven't been tipping the shampoo girl. :-[ I'll slip her a little extra something at my next appointment.
You're supposed to tip the bagger at the supermarket? I never knew that.
According to this site us dancers should be getting tipped $3 per song on stage, per customer. I like this site :D
The dancers, many nights, don't get tipped as well as they should. If a patron is going to sit at the stage, minimum $3 tip per song, per person. If they are at a table, they should at least get up once during each song. Even one dollar is usually appreciated

Sweet.
wtf.. how many people do I need to tip at my wedding?! Sheeeet.
I tipped my tattoo artist very well, IIRC. I also send lots of business her way.
You didn't get tipped as part of hospitality staff? WTF? That should be standard.
When I go away, I tip every single day by leaving the money on the pillow with a note that says "To Housekeeping, (or Mousekeeping if I'm in Disney) Thank You!...so that they know it's for them.
We usually only leave 5 to 10 per day, depending on the mess and/or our needs. I don't know if that's being too cheap or not.
I would have been thrilled to get 5 - 10 bucks.
It's actually a big thing for people who do Disney as their vacations every year.
We're dorks really, but we make up Mousekeeping envelopes before we go there and so do a lot of people.
I've been rewarded with towel animals and a few of them have made towel baskets for my toiletries...I mean, they go outta their way so we have to take care of them too!
Well, to me the casino tipping seems low.
If Im winning, Im betting for the dealer, every hand. If Im losing, then obviously not. If Im betting $5, I tip $1. If Im betting 20, I tip $5, but I am betting that tip for the dealer, so if he wins, he gets double.
Cocktial waitress usually get $5 a drink from me. They're free drinks! $5 is still cheaper than if I had payed. ANd Ive been a waitress. Trust me..the better you tip, the faster the drinks come.
Craps....I tip at the end of my roll, according to how much I won. I once won $3,000 and tipped about 250.
The cashier...I only tip if I am cashing out a large amount of money, and it is a pain in the ass for her to count out....and then I give you know...5 bucks maybe.
Most dealers in casinos make Min wage. Waitresses in larger, union casinos make pretty good money. Usualyl starts at 8.50 an hour, goes up to 11 after 90 days. The union is good for cocktail waitresses. Dealers dont get a union, and onyl get paid min wage.
I did not see Valet mentioned there. They should actually be tipped fwhen dropping off your car, and when picking up. Problem with this is..I usually tip $5 to valet. If I split that, I woudl give 2 droppign off, 3 picking up. Not that seems cheap to me. But I have been given attitude for not tipping on the drop off. So I am unsure abtou this. I will nto tip 5 to drop off and 5 to pick up.....Maybe 3 and 3....
Tattoo artist? I never knew to tip them. I did once, cause he gave me a really really good deal, and I basicialyl tipped him the rest.
Under restraunts...the rest room attendant, is suggested to tip 50 cents - $1. I disagree.
Never, ever is it ok to tip under $1 to anyone. It is soo freakin tacky. Anyone can afford one whole dollar. I only tip bathroom peopl eif they do something. Peopel standing in there get nothing. If I use their stuff, or they hand me a paper towel, I tip. But for just standing there lookin greedy...nada.
Here's an interesting article I found:
http://www.wiretapmag.org/stories/34988/
/:O especially this part:
What is surprising is that, among the factors that determine how much money a server makes, quality of service is fairly insignificant. The Center for Hospitality Research at Cornell University, where Lynn works, found in a 20-year study that level of service explained only a miniscule two percent of the variation between tips. "Literally how sunny it is outside has the same impact on a tip as good service does," says Lynn. "The relationship between tips and service is weak enough that you have to really question the incentive for servers to give good service."
The Center for Hospitality Research lists a number of other factors that affect your tip, many of which are completely out of a server's control. Good weather, good moods and a piece of candy with the check are all important tip boosters. For the server, being attractive improves your tip, being a woman improves your tip, and being an attractive woman exponentially increases it.
In fact, Lynn goes so far as to question the legality of tipping in America. According to Lynn, there is conclusive evidence that being white and/or female has a positive effect on a tip. "Tipping as it is currently practiced is probably unlawful. It is against the law to discriminate on the basis of sex and skin color. The Civil Rights Act states that any time race, sex or age has a dispirited impact on the employee, the job is unlawful. If I was the owner of a large restaurant, I would be afraid of a class action suit."
So are those of you getting the good end of a double standard going to give that up for sake of fairness? I mean men, non-white people and unattractive people work hard too.
Ahhh...didn't think so. :D
