looking for reassurance, needing truth.
i auditioned last week, and the manager talked to me and told me what kind of shifts they can offer me and that we would have to see it worked out for them and more importantly if it would out for me (as i have never done this). he said i would also need certain things and he would answer questions over a phone conversation. essentailly making it sound as if i would be given shifts, etc. i called him the next day and he asked if he could call me back on friday between 2-3.
he did not call me during that time, so i called a little after the time period and i was told that he would call me back. i called again on monday (he generally works during the week at night) and he wasn't working. so i called on tuesday, and the woman who answered came back and said she would take my name and number and he would call back. so today's wednesday, he hasn't called me, im afraid of being obnoxious...so...
should i be concerned?
when should i call back?
if i get another woman telling me he will call me back, should i frankly ask if he really is planning on calling me back or am i wasting my time?
thanks!
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
I would waltz in there again and ask to speak to him. I had to do then when trying to get a job waiting tables. It helped b/c they recognized me from all the other interviewees.
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
Yeah, I'd go in again, but dont waste too much time there... are they any other clubs in the area you'd be interested in working?
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
Clubs think they are organized, but lack the reality of it. Be persistent, but go in person as it shows that you are serious. Phones never work, bc they always forget!
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
Stripclub managers don't call back. And to be honest, the vast majority of the time, if you're hired, you'll know it and will NOT get that kind of run-around. However there are exceptions, and you don't know til you try. I'd go back and ask what's up. Forget the phone - they probably don't even know who you are when you call.
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
i'd go in acting like you had the job and ask what shifts you will be getting this week. straight to the point and confident :)
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
sorry for the delay in an update, but i just walked in acting confidant and it worked. thanks for advice everyone! and wish me luck on friday when i start!
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
^glad you went back. don't worry about what happened. sometimes (esp in busy clubs) managers just get weighed down -or- can be scatter brained. don't take it personal. also, you're new to this all together, so you might not have "stuck out" in his mind as much as a dancer with exp. especialy if the club is very selective at hiring.
good luck on your first shit! don't worry about "acting confidant" .....BE it. ;)
*EDIT* i was going to edit this because i noticed i said "shit" instead of "shift"
but it's more fun the first way. :P

See? Now go make the money!! Forget about the manager and do NOT think for a second he didn't want to hire you. Stripclub managers are not very good with phones ;)
Re: looking for reassurance, needing truth.
Good job, and good luck!! Tell us how it goes!!
