iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
Ok people. Why am I seeing so many people misspell INPUT lately, as IMPUT??? Is this some common mispronunciation, and everyone's just spelling it the way they think it sounds?
:whistlebl Halt! :cop: Grammar Police!
A suggestion, idea or advice is something you've PUT IN to the conversation. Hence, iNput.
It's I-N-P-U-T. Like, put it IN....oh yeah baby, pleeeeeeeaasse put it INNNN NOOOOWWWW!!!
Ok, can yall remember it if I make you think of it that way? LOL ;D
Sorry I just couldn't help myself :P

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
Or how about probly?? That is not a word people!!!
I want to have this sort of rant every time I see a post that is gramatically horrible. One or two mistakes don't bother me, but a whole post of run-on misspelled sentences with zero punctuation?? I don't even bother to read them. It hurts my eyes.
-
Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
I regularly use misspellings on purpose for effect, or because it's the way I talk. Ie, I often write "prolly" because I really say it like that (or because I'm being a smartass). I know many people do the same thing.
And I'm really not here to complain about people's grammar and spelling. I was just noticing lately that it seems alot of people are making that one particular spelling mistake, even if they otherwise have pretty good spelling/grammar, and was wondering what's the dealio.

I hate when people type like that! Everybody is so used to typing like they text and it gets on my nerves. It's not that hard to type out a whole word, I promise.

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
That's annoying, but not as irritating as when you see things like:
"im going to you're house" or "Your boring" or "I have two dog's"
Sometimes if I'm lazy I type without capitals and punctuation and that kind of thing I'm "whatever" about, but misplaced apostrophes always stick out like a sore thumb!

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
And loose-lose and your-you're coming in at second and third....;D

You're right, people that don't know how to use 'your', 'you're', and 'yours' irk me. Same thing with 'to', 'two', and 'too'. I know that at some point in a person's life they were taught how to use those words properly.

It doesn't bother me in text messages, but if you are at a computer or have a phone with a keyboard...USE IT!!!
Mostly it's the posts that are a complete mess that really irritate me. I would never say anything though.
I just realized I'm guilty of typing "tho" rather than "though!"

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
It looks like "imput" is a pretty common misspelling. I googled it and came up with 1,420,000 hits. :O

 My thoughts exactly.

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
To and Too...I know the difference, somewhere in my brain...but I forget. I use to for everything.
My peve is ur or becuz or wut, really, your only saving like, 2 letters at a time. texting is different, but when you type, you have time for the extra 2 letters to make a complete word.
but who am I to talk? I'm the queen of typos.

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
mizpelled werds dun botha mi muhch. :P
What really irks me is run on sentences with no punctuations, or no paragraphs. And everything in caps. I feel like I have A.D.D. trying to figure out what was written, and then I give up.
I can't read like that.

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
^ Or nothing in caps. everything is in lower case and runs together no period to be found to try and help me find the end of a sentence new ideas all over the place stuck in the middle of a huge paragraph yeah i'll usually skip posts like that i'm not here to try and decipher codes
Typos are one thing. Blatanly writing like a fool just shows me you don't care enough to communicate in a text based environment.

I do that too. Prolly instead of probably, and Imma instead of I'm going to... heh.

I skip those too unless I'm truly involved in that thread.
I also hate those who type in colors other than black. If you're using it for your siggy or to illustrate a point, fine. But whole posts in pink or baby blue are hard to read and I just skip right over.
As far as spelling goes, I HATE the "loose" instead of "lose". C'mon, they don't even sound the same, so making that mistake is ridiculous.

Yeah, I tend to skip over those posts too. It's just a pain in the ass to try and read. I know some girls love doing that, but dammit, why?

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
Well since we're discussing it.. although I've never seen it written this way, when someone says 'supposably' (or however you'd spell it), it bugs me... SUPPOSEDLY!!!! Correcting grammar is a very aging and irritating habit that I have.. everyone hates it, oh well..

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
I had a MySpace message the other day that read, "cood i hav ur msn plz"
Cood. Yes, cood. *shakes head*

Re: iMput....put it IN, put it IN!!!
They just get it confused with IMPLANT.
From the Mikado, "I Have a Little Book...." of things people repeatedly do that annoy me.
For you grammarians, have you noticed that the indirect object is becoming must less frequently used. And how about "Emmediately, pronounced with a long 'E'? and SUV pronounced eshu-vee? I've got more equally inane annoyances.
