It's your primitive brain letting you know something's up. Gut feelings are there to warn you of danger.
Bama from "Get Rich Or Die Tryin"- "It's like when I'm right, I'm right, when I'm wrong, I could have been right..."
Bad things happen when you don't listen to your gut & instinct.
I've always thought my instincts were right for the simple fact that when I ignore them something bad ends up happening or i fuck up royally or get hurt or whatever. Always, always trust your gut.
I think this is especially important for women. There are countless situations that I have been in danger (physical or emotional) that could have been avoided had I just listened to my gut and not someone else "easing my mind" and urging me to ignore my instincts.
Pick up the book "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell. Deals with this sort of thing. Good read too.
i've learned that my gut is a LOT smarter than either of my heads.
Absolutely. Also, THE GIFT OF FEAR by Gavin DeBecker is good to read...
I think it's true. I find when something isn't right I just kind of know, even if I don't realize until later that I knew something was wrong.
true, one time i was going to work and i had a feeling like i shouldn't go, but i did anyway and i had a hard time even making my house fee back. now i listen to that. if i'm driving to work and get that "feeling" i turn around and go home.
I always trust my gut and when I don't, I should have. Don't ignore it, you have that feeling for a reason.
Yup, the only times I've ever been taken advantage of were when I didn't trust my gut. I can't imagine the situations I've avoided.
I have good intuition, I use it alot. Its never failed me when I act on it, its just a pity I dont follow it all of the time.
I always listen to it when it comes to people, and its always been right, other things though sometimes I ignore it and pay the price.
For instance, last night I had made an appointment to go into a club to find out about working there. Before I left I had the strongest urge to call up and ask if I could come on a different day. I didnt though because I thought it might make a bad impression. So anyhow, I turn up punctually only to find that the manager made a mistake and was too busy to see me at all... So that was 3-4 hours of my time just wasted on travelling to the city and back for nothing.
I'm one of those people who has also had not so pleasant life experiences due to not listening to my instinct. I feel my instinct is linked to The Universe as such and thus it knows everything before my conscious self does all the time .............hence the reason I damn try my hardest to go with my instinct.
Even sometimes when I've have listened to it and it has hurt me... in the end... ultimately... it proved the right path to take even if initially it didn't feel like it to my conscious self.
;D
Not to thread-jack, but, out of out of anyone here who has responded, or not :) , do you find the same is true while meeting people?
For example at work we ahve hired alot of new people, and there are some people who I've been introduced to, and right off the back I didn't trust them, call it intuition, etc.
Just curious how often this happens....
I really trust your intuition.. what's weird is I don't know why!! My intuition TOLD me to always trust YOUR intuition! That's why I always ask for opinion related advice from you.
When you said what you said about my modelling, it made me really confident.
My gut has never steered me wrong. I have to tell my critical, waffly brain to shut up and listen to it.
i think so. whether it's clients, vendors, or prospective employees, my gut gives me a reading on them. i'd say near 99% of the time, i've been spot-on with my initial opinion.
this doesn't mean i avoided the person but i handled/interacted with them in a way appropriate to my reading of them.
i liken it to what (good) dancers do by reading potential customers. in fact, it's one of the reasons i like it here. i find a lot of the discussions and perspectives very close to a salesman's approach in life (one of the hats i wear).
I get gut feelings upon first meeting people. They can be nice as pie, but I still won't like them. It's only later that friends come to me with the same eerie feelings about these ppl.
When I'm not happy in a relationship, my stomach goes absolutely crazy and I lose weight very fast.
My gut/intuition are often right which has taugh me to listen to them rather than my heart because when ever I've listened to my heart over my gut/intuition I've gotten hurt.
That's the beauty of intuitions--because they are immediate feelings, they aren't clouded by reasoning and judgement--so they can't be wrong. Mine have always been right--even when I chose not to listen.
The pineal gland located between your eyes in the front of your brain is responsible for a lot of the "6th senses" that we tend to pick up on. It's also called the third eye, and I think that "gut instinct or intuition" is actually just the pineal gland being stimulated.
Why is it called gut instinct anyways?
^ It's called gut instinct cause most people feel it in their guts, right in their second chakras.
My gut trusts APS's gut too. Also LM's and MM's (heh, you're all acronyms).
