A Question About Stage Names
Okay, this will probably seem like a silly question, but it's something I've always wondered. Is there a code of ethics with regards to stage names for dancers? What I'm wondering is if there are certain names that more than one dancer use? Is it a faux pas to pick a name that another dancer uses? Does a dancer change her name usually if she finds that another dancer is using her name already?
Re: A Question About Stage Names
At my club (and most clubs I think) you cannot have the same name as someone else because it's confusing for everyone. So if a dancer has used the name say Jodi and she moves to another club and there is already a Jodi there, then the new dancer will have to pick another stage name to use.
Re: A Question About Stage Names
That's the way it works on most clubs. Or then we have nicknames for the girls who have the same artist name, for example if we have many Natashas we might call one Nat, one Natalie and one Tasha. Just make up variations. But yea, the same name would be awkward and it's first come first serve, so the new girls will just have to pick another name if Victoria's taken here too :)
Re: A Question About Stage Names
Off topic, but speaking of names - Don't ask what my real name is. I'm just gunna make it up anyway.
But yeah...if a name is taken, you gotta pick a new one. 2 dancers cant have the same name.
God, could you imagine the confusion of they paged Nicole to the VIP room, and 3 different Nicole's came running.
Re: A Question About Stage Names
It took me almost an hour to find a name when I worked in Vegas, such a pain in the ass. And when I finally found one that wasn't used, they did eventually remember a girl who danced by it, but she hadn't been around in a while.
Boy, oh boy, was I pissed about this at Perfect10. I came in there as Katrine or Katrina, forget which one. Then they hired a waitress named Katrina. Plus there was a Kat and a Katrice dancing there. Management didn't make ANYONE change names. To top it off, one day, a dancer who went by Katrina came back and they just let her work, didn't make her change her name or anything, even though I had been there all the time for several months. So I changed to Anna. What a huge clusterfuck it was and management didn't do shit, they just left it to us to sort out. Idjots.........
Re: A Question About Stage Names
Oh yeah, finding a name in vegas is tough. Espicially since I work at ALL the clubs, and I had to get a differen one for every club. I never can remember who I am!
Luckily now I've gotten it pretty much Kaylin everywhere now.
Re: A Question About Stage Names
Yeah, I've had to pick a different name at every club too. Lily is faaaar in the past by now... maybe next time I switch I'll get it back.
Re: A Question About Stage Names
I've always been Ginger, I've never had to change my name, but I've been with girls who have had to use different names when they started at a new club. It's a pain in the ass.
I do feel bad when I feature somewhere and there is a Ginger there, because half the time they make the other Ginger use a different name while I am there. I was in Nebraska a couple of weeks ago and the club I was at had a Gingerale. They made her change her name to Tonic while I was there, and I felt bad, because it didn't bother me that she went by Gingerale.
Re: A Question About Stage Names
Wow. I never realized that some names were so interchangeable. I suppose it makes sense though because there are just some names that lend themselves more readily to stripping than others. I thought that maybe dancers were a lot more cut-throat about their stage names, but it seems as though it's more or less a first-come-first-serve basis. So, then, is it pretty expensive to go through a name change? I mean insofar as posters and keychains and such. I suppose a name change would also mean potentially losing some regulars if they don't know that you've changed names because you've relocated to another club.

Oh yeah tell me about it. As if they are gonna remember the name anyway. Most of the time I tell customers my name they have forgotten it immediately anyway ::)
Re: A Question About Stage Names
Pay a dancer to "buy" her name from her?
I dunno about other girls, but what name I go by isnt worth that much to me, to actually pay money for it.
I dunno....but to me, name's aren't important at all. All I need a name for is so I know when they call me to VIP or on stage. Customers don't remember them half the time anyway.
A few clubs in vegas you can't even pick your own name, they give you one. Which totalyl sucks ass. I got named canolli? canelli? cavetilli? Some kind of pasta.
They tried to give me Gerturde first, I decided I'd ratehr be pasta than an 80year old great, great aunt.
There just isn't enough names to go around here, so instead of takign an hour to find a name that isn't used, they decided to pick for you.
So no...names to me aren't important. To others, or girls in smaller clubs or girls who have used the same one for years, it might matter more to.
Re: A Question About Stage Names
I am still hoping someday to find a stripper using the name "Straykat."
