I know someone who did. She is an aesthetician. I don't know how long she worked there (she's the kind of person who never stays at a job long) but she said they were entitled to one free procedure per year. Sounds like a good incentive to me!
My aunt used to. She got a chin lift pretty much free of charge - she had to pay the anaethesist and the hospital bed fee but he did it free of charge.
Many girls do it to get their boobs done etc so now most of them in Australia require you to have worked for them for about 1 year or more before you get a procedure.
You should see this girl who works at the plastic surgeon I go to (I see a dermatologist there). She is the receptionist and she is the most plastically beautiful thing I've seen. She has obviously had the works done from her boobs, I think her nose and who knows what else.
A great live advertisement!
they asked my friend's mom to work for a ps because they told her she had perfect bone structure and a perfect nose and it would be like an advertisement even though she hasn't had work done at all. She didn't take the job though. The surgeon that did my nose, all the nurses that worked in his office had their noses (among other things) done by him.
Hm, this is a great post. I wonder what jobs PS's would need an RN for?
I know I sound repetitive (I've said this same shit on other threads, so sorry for repeating myself) I just graduated in May and got my esthetician license. I can't wait to go work for a PS!!! While I'm looking for that perfect job, I'll be doing mini facials/waxing for the girls at my club...I think even after I get a job w/ a PS or @ MedSpa, I'll still moonlight at the clubs to make extra cash! I love the fact that school was only about 5 1/2 mo long and the career choices are endless! I have a friend who is working in a cosmetic dentist's office as an esthetician! This field is so wide open and is just barely starting to take off! So the opportunities are crazy, there's so many different avenues that can be pursued! I'm so excited!!!
Well, I don't know what the schools are like where you live, but I thought that I was going to "the best of the best"...it was on of the most miserable experiences I've ever had lol! I got suck in by the name! Cosmetology Career Center a Paul Mitchell Partner School. It was lie being in a Nazi Concentration Camp!!! So going to this school..after we got out of the Jr class and became Sr, that's when it all went down hill. But I made it through and this I can say...going to that school we were there just to get our 750 hours and that was it! We didn't get any "real world"training, as they like to put it...but I got my hours and I'm ready to go get some really training and experience! It's a wonderful field!!! Best of Luck
*sucked*
I can't type with these damn nails...sorry *like* *real*
I'd just add agreement to that - my dad was a plastic surgeon, but even if I'd had anything done (never did anything but remove a few moles, and then he retired a few years ago - totally missed my chance!), I still would have had to pay for anaesthetics and hospital fees. The doctors can opt to do the labor for free, of course, but just be prepared for those other costs.
Good luck with this Vyanka! You WOULD be a gorgeous walking ad! ;)
So i'm searching online for a school (still), & there are so many. I don't know which one to pick. :-\ In the search engine I put in "MOST PRESTIGIOUS COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL IN NYC for esthetician license".
I get several. Anyone familiar with these?

And Aveda?
My mom went through carsten, she liked it a lot and said she would reccomend it to anyone. And my mom is SUPER anal and an extreme perfectionist. So take that for what it's worth.
She went to work for a ps here afterwards, doing permanent cosmetics, esthetics and something else skin related. She enjoyed it, but the only complaint she had was how stuck up and snotty all the ps's were. She's kind of a princess herself though, so your experiences may be very different.
I think it's a great idea though! Good luck with it!
In the NYC area, and in many other big cities, many plastic surgeons actually operate their own surgical OR as part of their office. In that case, RN's are needed for patient prep, anesthesia, post-op recovery etc. In many states the RN's are also allowed to assist (= 5 minutes attention by the doctor with the RN doing the rest of the procedure) for Botox injections, peels etc.Quote:

It's also standard procedure in the NYC area for a plastic surgeon to offer one 'free' procedure per year for his employees. As noted above, 'free' refers to zero surgeon's fee, but you still have to pay for blood work, anesthetist, 'parts' cost etc. Even so, $1500 to buy the breast implants + $500 in lab fees + $1000 for the anesthetist is a whole lot of discount !
