tips on disguise?
Hello ladies,
I was wnodering if any of you have tips on how to make yourself look less like your regular, non-stripper self.
Yes, I could do wigs, hair pieces, hair piece bangs, create an alter-identity. I know, it's sorta obvious what I could do. But any non-obvious ideas?
Do any of you have stories on how you try to look different? I'm just worried about someone recognizing me. I didn't worry about it before, but now i'm thinking, "hmm, what if I wear a wig?" Any thoughts? Thanks so much!:)

cover up any birthmarks..... wear a really good looking temp tat everytime you work, and only at work.....
beauty marks......
hmmmmm.
I'll keep thinking.

Re: tips on disguise?
My "real life" self has crazy wild curly hair, wears almost no makeup, and dresses like a hippie beach bum.
My stripper self wears full-face makeup, false eyelashes (are amazing), straightened and then curled hair with curly hair extensions, lots of rhinestones, pretty lingerie and fishnets.
So for me.. it's pretty easy to look different, because I pretty much do a 180 style-wise, but if you already wear makeup and get dolled up every day it might be harder.
False eyelashes definitely add a lot of drama to your eyes, blush/bronzer in the hollows of your cheeks can slim down your face and make you look older (at least i think so) and extensions can make your hair look completely different-- i just got the jessica simpson ones that clip underneath your real hair-they blend in really nicely and don't fall out, despite all the hair flipping and playing I do. I'd be scared to wear a full wig on stage, because with my luck it would fall out, and wigs are easier to look fake than hair extensions- if you're worried about that

Re: tips on disguise?
Thanks Lola! Great tip. I have some very recognizable birthmarks, never eeevvver thought of that! I want to do wigs at some point, might be a good investment...or at least hair extensions too. I love the fake tattoo idea too!
I took a little break from stripping because I was worried about getting recognized....that'd wreak havoc on my "real" life. But I don't want to earn peanuts at a straight job, because I want to get ahead with my financial life.

Re: tips on disguise?
i wear a wig-really works-i find dark wigs are easier to pull off than blonde (blonde is very obvious when it matts etc and you have to keep them perfectly maintained) and curls are easier to make look natural than straight (just learn not to flick your head around too much [as i found out when a little tipsy and doing a show way back when:-[ ]-as long as you dont swish your hair around it not obvious its a wig-i also find a fring works really well for both the disguise and hiding the wigline element.
Also tan up!-use body makeup/bronzer tp become a whole new shade of you! i also use shading and contouring (from my theatre makeup days) which can totally change the shape of your face (ie-i give myself a straighter nose than usual, thinner face). DEFINATELY false eyelashes and you'd be amazed at the difference couloured contact lenses make to your face-you seriously look like a different person.
this maybe goes a bit far (coems from my acting days) but i have a totally differnent stripper persona to my normale self-ie i walk differently-talk differnetly (my vocal inflections are higher; my stripper self is generally stupider...), laugh differently (ie, a giggle vs normal laugh), have a differnet home town, birthday etc etc....
The difference is phenomenal though-i will meet people who i know very well in work outside and they'll chat to me for half the night and not jerry i'm the same person
hmmmm.... i'm starting to sound a little schitzophrenic.....

Re: tips on disguise?
Great ideas! Thanks everyone! I never even thought of the tanning one8) this is all very helpful;D No more worries for me about keeping my stripping life hidden, for the most part. Too bad I feel like I have to hide it. But if it weren't a taboo, I suppose we wouldn't be making as much money?

Re: tips on disguise?
^^^^^^^^^^ sometimes the 'hiding' (ie. dress-ups!) is nice though-it lets you sort of put on your 'stripper self' and then take her off and leave her there; the good and the bad. Sometimes its levelling-u know? it feels like the reaction isn't to you, its to this (physical) thing you've created and as a result you don't tend to take so much of the crap (or the outta control praise for that matter;)) on board. Theraputic, i think :D

Re: tips on disguise?
I think it would be easier to make your stripper self look different from your real self than trying to do the reverse. For instance, wigs and hairpieces look great in the club, but I can't imagine trying to pull one off in my day-to-day life, nor would I want to. There are a million things you can do to essentially make your stripper self the disguise rather than trying to disguise your real self.
