Animal Welfare Check -OR- My Neighbors Are Nosy
So, I got a visit from an animal control officer today. Somebody called and complained that our dog gets left outside for long periods of time with no food and no water. WTF? I let the officer know that's not true, that if the dog is outside, he has fresh water (I do this myself), and that we feed him once a day, so he never has food outside. I also told him that Timber (our dog) has been staying inside with me most of the day since it's been getting really hot.
I just don't know why someone would call and complain. Timber isn't a barker, we're really quiet people, we don't have parties, we don't have people over and we're good neighbors. The only thing I can think of is that we were dog sitting over the weekend for a friend's Doberman puppy (he's 9 months old) and he was barking alot. But still, he had water, was fed twice a day and wasn't outside at night or even for long periods of time.
Ugh, just ranting!!
Re: Animal Welfare Check -OR- My Neighbors Are Nosy
We had pissed off neighbors once, and they called animal control on us. Saying our dog had a broken leg and we wouldn't take it to the vet.
Yes, our dog limped. Before we got him, he was hit by a car and broke his leg. His stupid owners at the time got a pin put in his leg, and never took it out. They said it was supposed to heal on its own. For months, this dog had a pin riding out of his back leg, and it never healed properly. When we got him, his leg was unuseable, it just hung there. The break didn't heal properly, and his leg was useless.
So yeah...he walked with a limp...nothing we could do about it. bitchy ass neighbors trying to get us in trouble. Animal control took one look at our fat, healthy, happy dogs and just laughed and went away.
