Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
For the last few days I've had this horribly restless feeling in my legs.. I can't sit or lie down for 2 minutes without having to get up and walk around! :-\ I think I heard somewhere that is a real condition... But I thought only old people got it... Anyone else had it? :(
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
Restless leg syndrome...I have it, where I just cant lay still, I feel this weird feeling in my legs and HAVE to move them. Or sometimes they just feel odd and achey, for no reason.
I take medicine, but only when I show symptoms, and it helps tremendously
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
They have medicine for it? I have this too. I constantly have to wiggle my legs around and massage them or twist my ankles around because they just have this intangible itchy achy feeling.
I hates it.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I have it too..so does my mother. I didnt knwo until recently that it was a medical condition. It doesnt affect me enough to go to the dr about it..I usually just get up and pace for awhile until it goes away.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I must have it too but I want to believe it's from having too much energy. I take care of it by going to the gym for a run or cleaning house.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I used to get this all the time. I haven't had it in years though. I would constantly be shifting with my legs because it felt so uncomfortable to just lay. I don't think it has anything to do with age.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
Restless legs can be attributed to calcium and magnesium deficiencies.
I was having some restless leg syndromes during my pregnancy with Adrian, and I got some CalMag (from the health food store). Worked like a charm....and no side effects.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I heard it was iron deficiency. I have it sometimes, and it got real bad when I was pregnant and really anemic.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I have had RLS for years after being hit head-on by a drunk driver. Ask your Doctor to prescribe you Mirapex. Start off with .25 mg. You can go up to 1.5 mg if need be. It is actually a treatment for Parkinson's but it is the only thing I have found that works. It doesn't eat up your liver or anything either. Your Doc will look it up and see it is prescribed for RLS. That "Requip" stuff they advertise didn't do anything. The only other thing I've found that works is any kind of "legal" narcotic. Vicodan, Percocet, etc. Its sometimes caused by nerve damage in the neck and alot of ppl get it after neck or back surgery. From what my Neurologist tells me I have one of the worst cases of RLS on record, so if theres anything ya need to know about it (including other meds that work) feel free to pm me. I know what a hell it can be to go a few days with no sleep...
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
The weirdest thing is I never had RLS until I started dancing. I dont know what the correlation between the two is. Anyone else only noticed it after starting dancing?
My mum used to get it as a side effect from her medication that she takes for her bipolar.
It is a real disorder. Restless leg syndrome.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I started noticing it late at night on long car rides about 4 years ago. I'd have to put my legs on the dash and stretch them as far as I could (I was the passenger obviously). I don't get it as much as when I was pregnant, but about 5 nights out of the month, I get it, and it drives me batty. I'm too embarrassed to ask my doctor about it, and I'm not sure it affects me enough to get a prescription for it.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
I tried taking Requip for it and that helped a little bit. You can ask your doctor about it--It's specifically for parkinsons or RLS.
Surprisingly, what helped me... After I got out of the mental hospital, they precribed me 50mg Vistriol to sedate me for bed. It's for anxiety and sleep. It puts me to bed so quick that my legs don't have a chance to act up. I pop one, take a shower, lay down, BOOM.... and I used to have the WORST insomnia.
Re: Restless legs.. I can't sleep!
Thanks everyone... Man, I still can't sleep. Why am I awake already? the past few days I've been waking up at 8:30 or earlier, after having gone to bed at 3:30 or 4, and then when I try to take a nap in the afternoon, I just lay there and can't fall asleep. I tried taking sleeping medicine last night, and it knocked me out just fine, but it couldn't keep me asleep for eight hours... :-/
