just a quick ?
About western union. An ex roommate owes me some cash. He moved to miami and said he can western union me payments. I googled this to figure out what it was/find a location near me, and he told me how it works. Im curious though, he said i need to fill out my address and name and have my id on me when i go to pick up the money. He said its like a check they cash right there..but since they have all my info if the money doesnt go through will i get billed? or does it go through right then and there?

Re: just a quick ?
They won't have your info until you go to pick it up, so how can you be billed? And no, you wont.
What happens is he sends the money and the info is just retained in the western union system. You go to a western uniopn, give proof of ID, and they look you up in the computer. They see that you were sent x amount of money, so they print out a check, and cash it for you, and you have your money. If you never went to get it, the money would just stay in the computer system lost I guess. I'd imagine it would expire or soemthing, but I dont know what happens if money is nver picked up.
Oh..if it don't go through...It will go through. He will recieve confirmaion that it was sent when he goes to send it so it will definatly be there when you go to pick it up. And I dont think he needs your address, just your city. I have recived lots of western unions out here from family, and all they need was my name and city( las Vegas) the money/info is just in the western union system in this city, so you could go to any location and pick it up.
You need proof of id just so thy aren't giving away your cash to someone else. You need to provide your address, but the sender doesn't, if I remember correctly.

Re: just a quick ?
...just some added info...
you dont even need an id, they can put down a 'test question'. it costs a little more but if you dont have an id it's an option.
