I like the idea of erotic circus. Like the Circque du Soliel Chinese pole tricks, naked trapeze, bodypainting, etc...
Someone here-sorry, I forget who, maybe RoxiDelite--does hoop tricks, those were phenomenal--I like that kind of creativity!
Hey Djoser do u have a link to those? I havent seen them before.
;)
I do ribbon dancing... a little.. just started lessons.
I looked everywhere for an aerial hoop online. Where on earth do you buy that stuff?
Circus skills would be so very cool.
I bet Aussiepunkshocker or GCG would know...........
What's ribbon dancing LM? Is it like the ribbon in rythmic gymnastics? Where do u learn it?
I thought Roxi Dlite had posted a YouTube video, but I guess I was wrong. But if you look at her avatar it is a phenomenal picture of her doing a hoop trick.
I remember seeing a really cool hoop clip too a little while ago.
Yeah, I think it was her, and it was the bomb, but I couldn't find it. There's one more place I can look.
OK, here is a link to a British Pole dancing forum, where I posted a link to the hoop video. Plus one of the members there was talking about trapeze.

That video was awesome. It's what made me spend the next 30 minutes googling for a hoop of my own.
Did you get one? I think that's great!
^Never found a place that sells them. :'(
I want to do circus school. Ive always wanted to run away and join a circus! Im not in one place for long enough to complete the course though so Im waiting until my sons a bit older as they dont offer the courses part time or casual (yet).
I recently met someone who said she would teach me trapeze part time and some other people who might do some part time acrobatic stuff if our time tables ever match up. I hope so one day - hooping fine for now though. I had a breif fire twirling lesson today when I dropped some hoops off to one of the local shops. It was fun and I wouldnt mind learning that too.
For aerial hoops Im guessing that you could get one made. It might be wroth enquiring at the local circus school. Im not sure where to get them but another dancer here has one because there was a post a while back with a clip of her show.
It made me laugh to read that youre afraid of heights Jaizaine - dont you climb right to the top of Melbournes highest strip club pole? (-:
Circus skills are great but circus’ are living Hell for animals. So yes, I go to them but to protest them.
Anyone in Vegas want to join me next time there in town?
Hugs and Hissessss,

I do! ;D I specialize in aerial hoop, and also do tissu and aerial straps. I can put together a good routine on static trapeze if necessary too, but eh. Doing static is like playing guitar--*everyone* does it. So I don't. :P
And I agree completely...humans-only circuses are the way to go. Honestly though the animal-rights issues never really crossed my mind...I would never go to watch, or audition for, a troupe that uses animals just b/c it's CHEESY and those shows are fucking tacky and stupid as hell and ugh.
jaizaine, you are in the perfect city if you want to start! One of the best circus schools in the world is in Melbourne. But you will have to tame your fear of heights if you want to do tissu...eventually you'll be doing drops and falls from 30+ feet! Tissu is actually one of the things where you're least likely to take a fall. For one, you're locked in when you're doing most tricks (with the fabric in a knot around one or both of your ankles/feet, or around your waist or thighs for a lot of drops). For two, if you do fall, you can catch yourself easily at any point on the way down, as opposed to trapeze where your only chance of catching yourself is to grab onto one horizontal bar. Plus when you first start tissu, you can do most things fairly low until you feel secure. It's only when you get into more advanced drops that the height thing comes into play.
oh and if you do start taking tissu lessons, and your teacher tells you you're going to be doing a forward roll...beware. That's the one miniature drop that will make you feel like someone just whacked you in the crotch with a hammer, lol.
You can do pretty much everything in the world there. Someday during the next few years I will be hauling my ass over for a year on a working holiday visa, just so I can do an intensive course there. (yes i know US citizens can't do the working holiday scheme...but I'm an italian citizen also. :) )
aussiepunkshocker, where are you located?
Also, here's a good place to get apparatus. The site doesn't look like much but they make quality equipment. (Based in the US).
is more geared toward giant outdoor flying trap setups, and their hula hoops are crap, but...welll, there they are.
and of course, there are a million aerials videos on youtube that are well worth checking out. type in Katia Sereno or Stephanie Gasparoli and see what comes up. :)
I'm going to get into hula/hoola hooping more serious in the next few months as I feel I have done all that I need to learn lesson wise with Burlesque ... so now I am going to start to add on top of that... start with hula/hoola hoops and go from there.. maybe even work on my Pole Dancing skills as well (at the same time) since I only ever learnt "on the job" with the pole.
Here in Brisbane there are quite a few circus chicks. My inspiration is Lena Marlene as she learnt Tissu and used that in more than a few stripper competitions to great effect. She does other skills as well naturally.
Personally, do it. I highly recommend it. You never know where learning these skills will take you. I'm hoping learning these new skills will allow me to be more employable and take me out of just the adult industry as such.

There's a class near here that teaches it. Also called Tissu, like GCG said.
I desperately want to learn aerial tissues, hoops, trapeze... also to get some training in contortion... I am very naturally flexible and pick things up quick... I just can't ifnd a way to practice them on my own, or any local circus schools...
But yeah, cirque du soleil is a DREAM... I'd love to perform in Zumanity...
Picturesque I travel every couple of weeks between The Gold Coast, Sydney and some times Melbourne and more recently New Zealand too.
I would like to go to the Melbourne circus school but I have a teenage son so I. cant stay away from home in Queensland for more than a few weeks at a time. Brisbane also has one but I dont know if i could stand being in Queensland for that long!
^ BAH! You should leave and do it! That'll teach him for saying his mum is uncool!
No!!!!! I only climb 3/4 of the way up. CUsties always shout climb to the top, at which point I flip upside down and pull a trick to try to divert their attention away from the fact that I wont go higher hehehe.
Djoser thanks for that link, she is so hypnotic to watch.
