Where do you stay when you dance in london??? (I'm coming with hubby)
London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. I suggest considering staying outside of the city proper for better rates.
I'm only staying a week!
I stayed in a hostel-some of them do have private rooms.
Check out dorm rooms that they rent out for the summer (that is, if you're going for the summer). Cheaper than a hotel, plus you get a private room.

You can start at the above link. I stayed in dorms when I went to the UK a couple of years ago. The rooms are clean, and some have private bathrooms.
I'll be staying at the Palmer's Lodge hostel twice while I'm touring the UK. It looked nice and it was affordable.

We used expedia.ca (I'm sure it's an international site), and got a double-occupancy room for less than $100 Canadian/ night...it was right beside St. Paul's Cathedral, and actually a nice hotel. Considering how expensive the city is, I thought it was a great deal.
Three words that don't go together.
Would love more info. on your experience in London. Would like to go w/ my husband in the fall. Don't think I'd work there, but would love to hear more about your experience, and what you decided to do. I have been wanting to go to London for the past year.
Any more updates/info on this. I am anxiously planning my trip & would love advice. Thanks!!!
Picadilly backpacker's hostel. 5 pounds a night!
It is an icky hellhole, though. I stripped out of a dorm room...its do-able. There are lockboxes in every room. You can get locks to fit them at the Boots at Picadilly circus.
I think a private room is probably not that expensive.
Also, book in advance at this time of year...
Edit: Oh, I got confused...if you're going just for vacation, stay somewhere nicer than Picadilly, lol.
I just got back from there yesterday and the cheapest place I could find was a Premier Travel Inn at County Hall...
100 quid a night. With VAT that comes to over 200 US$/night, for a budget hotel.
London is pricy to begin with but the dollar is taking a brutal beating over there right now.
When I stay in London, I go to the carlton hotel in birkenhead street - very close to kings cross.
not very special. not special at all. however, a single room is 50 quid a night, a double is 60 quid. They throw in a breakfast too.
By London standards, this is virtually free!!
Hope you have a great time.
I'm sorry I have no useful advice, I was in London a few years back and I squatted with some locals and foreigners that I met whilst travelling.
I just wanted to say thanks for giving me a giggle "affordable London accomodation" lol!
