smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
It was suggested to me on another thread that I should try a smoky eyes look. All the ones I can find look really dark to me, and as if it would make me look like I have a black eye. Customers tell me I look better with less makeup, and when I wear less, I do make more money.
So I guess what I am looking for is a smoky look that will not be overpowering.
I used the dark green and the purple from this last night, with purple liner and black mascara. Not sure if I liked it or not. At least I can say it wasn't too overwhelming, because the colors were not that intense.

On another note, know you are supposed to use a lighter lip color with darker eyes, but when I am at work, I feel as if the lighting makes me look like I have no lips at all unless I use a strong color. SInce I chew my lipstick a lot, I use Covergirl OUtlast 12-hour lip colors and the new Revlon 12-hour Colorstay colors. Suggestions please?
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I woud stick with shades that were shiney light blue, gold, golden brown.
natural.
That also might be nice too.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I would do a very light smoky eye with gold on the inner half and a chocolate brown on the outer half with dark brown eyeliner.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I have that almay set- those are for the green eyes.
The set for the blue eyes has a light and dark blue and a brown. I think you should try that set.
Also, for your lips, I like the lancome ones where you put this lipstick on and it also comes with a clear gloss that you could reapply as needed (and the lipstick stays on the whole time- even as you reapply the gloss...).

It really does last!
And they change the colors, I have some in red that I don't see on the site...
At $25, it IS expensive for lip color- but I'm telling you it's the best I've found.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
Why not try a smokey bronze look and dust your cheeks with a light matte bronzer where the sun would hit, and then a shimmery bronzer under your cheek bones, a peach blush, dark bronze eyeshadow on the outer half on the crease, a copper color on the inner half of the crease, on the eyelid and brow bone a champagne color. A very thin line of liquid darkbrown eyeliner, and dark brow mascara. Shiny peachy, nude lips. Kind of a lot of makeup what you said you weren't going for, but it's kind of a glammed up natural look.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I agree with RedHotHoney's bronze/champagne scheme. But don't use the liquid eyeliner. It just doesn't work as well with more mature skin.
I'm sure LatinaRose has a suggestion as to what products are best, but I just use my regular brown shadow with a wet brush. If I'm going out at night, I put a bit of gold shadow over that line while still wet.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I'm blond but I have a redheaded complexion, and I look best in redheads' makeup. I do a smoky eye with different shades of flesh and brown, and no shadow under the eye except a small point in the corner. Line with dark brown pencil and wear pale pink lipstick with an ultra-shiny pink gloss over it. It looks made-up but not painted, and I get complimented on being "naturally" pretty at work.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
i have red hair and blue/grey/green eyes. when i want them really dark, i use shadows with shiny blue or green hints to them. i realllly like intrepid by loreal's "hip". i also use really dark green eyeliner instead of black sometimes if i want to "brighten" them up a bit. darker shimmery golds can work well on top of dark base eyeshadow. it goes well with red hair. when i use really smokey eye make-up i like the loreal "hip" colored lip gloss in "pixie". i tried a MILLION nude shades and this one works best for me. it's not too pink (which is a big problem with red hair imo) and it's not too brown (which is common with some nudes). it's a really nice light shimmery nude coral color. i put some clear shine on top of that and i'm ready to go.
"pixie" is the lipgloss scarlet johanson is wearing on this page

the intrepid eye shadow pigment looks purple on that site, but it's darker and more blue/green than that. i wear it on top of dark grey or black eyeshadow to make it really pop.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
hip eyecolors are my favorite they were on sale last week buy one get one free at walgreens. I have seen a lot of redheads and some of them have eyebrows that are invisible, if your eyebrows are very light like mine i would try a auburn or light brown eyebrow pencil or powder brows can really make a huge difference.
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I am going to print this out and take it to Walgreen's. THey are having a sale on Revlon this week. Hooray!
Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
I like purple and rusty colors on me - I have red hair and blue eyes.
Although lately, I've quit wearing makeup entirely. Except lipgloss. I may wear some again when I go back to the city, but for now I'm done with the makeup. It's so liberating!! ;D

Somebody put up sample pic so we can see! I'm sure they will be beautiful, but I like looking while deciding!

Re: smoky eyes for redhair/blue eyes
IMHO, Lips should not be overdone to distract from the eyes, but make the viewer can to the eyes, lips, and back and forth (eye/lip scan). When I do that, someone is getting laid! LOL

Now, the real fun begins; incoming pics! LIFE IS GOOD!

For the lipstick, I like the Premium Pink in the 12-Hour Colorstay line. It a medium pink with a slightly cool undertone and a slight golden shimmer which makes it flattering to a lot of skin tones. It's not a bright pink but not a pastel either so it's a good amount of color for a more natural eye yet holds its own with a smokey eye without looking too strong. It's my go-to shade especially when I want some umph but don't feel have the time to do a proper bold lip.
ETA The Lorac Pro Color Palette has really great shades for smokey eyes, both shimmer and matte.

They are very easy to blend and you can also apply wet for a more pigmented look to use as liner.
