Re: Help with Russian music?
PPK the techno/industrial dance band comes to mind.... I have 6 T.A.T.U albums...you know the slsk drill.
Re: Help with Russian music?
they have 6 albums??
i thought only 2?
Re: Help with Russian music?
Will try this again as I get booted for some reason if it takes too long to post. Try checking an artist called Tanya Bulanova or Tat'yana Bulanova ; As far as the number of T.A.T.U albums....who knows as they have name variations but this discog is a start ;
Re: Help with Russian music?
Six CDs?! Wow! DJ Maimed is right on it...
I clicked on the link for the pretty Russian singer and laughed like hell as I tried to figure out how to click on the Cyrillic links--a bit too early for my vampire brain right now, but looks good.
Maybe I don't have everything I thought I did, after all. Thanks!
Re: Help with Russian music?
No worries, you have always been cool....here's a site that might help a lil';
Re: Help with Russian music?
I really don't know what would work in a club that isn't super-cheesy and that I'm not afraid to admit that I like in front of all ya'll cool DJ's. ;)
There is this one super-silly song called "Russian Girls" that someone sent me on MySpace. Its ridiculous, but pretty typical of Russian techno: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2OcKQ6-JCk
Re: Help with Russian music?
Dammit, my other post never came through earlier!
Re: Help with Russian music?
Ruslana - Wild dances
Hi- Fi ,they have good russian dance songs
Linda ,Philip Kirkorov
Re: Help with Russian music?
Wow, I love the Russian/Ukrainian vibe. If I'm ever in Key West, I'm coming to your club!
Sunchace ft. Yana Kay – Remember ( you'll never find it, I got it direct from Lithuania ) but if you'd like it, send me a PM and I'll send it to you. It's freaking awesome, fast techno but really, really good.
I also know a DJ in St. Petersburg named Nastya, I might be able to get some stuff from her if you'd like.

Yeah when I first started there one of the dancers liked that one, lol. Thanks for responding, sorry it took so long to thank you.
And thanks to the rest of you as well. I'm going to check that stuff out, and also get the rest of those Tatu CDs you mentioned, Maimed.
Nastya is a cool name, I'd like to check out her stuff.
Re: Help with Russian music?
If any of them are into punky stuff you can try Gogol Bordello. They're NYC based, but have that Russian gypsy flair to them.

Ruslana sucks. Kirkorov=bleh.
Linda is good. She sings "marijuana", right?
Dammit, I need to re-post my thread that never showed up....
Oh, Djoser, a group I just remembered because they were playing them the other night at the restaurant in Vegas...
Via Gra. Its 3 girls and they do some girlie pop. Very popular over there...

Ah, my future husband Eugene. Let me look through their albums and find something appropriate for an SC.....
Re: Help with Russian music?
I was looking for something new and decent by Ruslana. I WANT to like her, I really do. All of her songs sounds the same. Here is what she did recently, there is supposed to be an english version. It might be ok for some Euro girls. The first few minutes open the story in Ukrainian, they can be cut. Its based on a scifi story that she turned into this song, about an energy crisis. I cannot understand most of the lyrics unfortunately, but it supposed to be an inspirational story.

While we're talking about Ukrainian music, the most popular "rock" band from there is Okean Elzy, who I love!!
This song, whilst bad for the SC, is so beautiful:

Some info, and lyric translation to this song, very powerful:

I really can't find any SC appropriate party music by them.....
Also, check out these clips from the Brat2 soundtrack. Click on the far right music symbol. My favorite song is #5, Zemfira. She is pretty rocking....

Re: Help with Russian music?
Dima Bilan: he has BROUGHT back the Russo-mullet with no apologies. My mom brought me his CD, he's extremely popular. He's quite the man-pretty hottie too!

As you see, the kids love him!

Dmitry Malekov. He's been around a while, has some cheesy stuff, but could be doable:

And finally, how about Verka Serduchka?

This is a fun song, kind of makes fun of Russo-Ukrainian partying. Its fucking awesome! And pretty accurate, minus the ethnic costumes, haha.
Re: Help with Russian music?
Katrine, you are The Bomb--but of course we already knew that.
Thanks so much for all your help!
Re: Help with Russian music?
Don't know if you're still looking for more music, Djoser, but these are popular at my club:
Ruki v verh, "dumala" (actually almost all of their songs are SC-playable). "pismo" is one of my favorites, but it's kind of short (slightly under 3 minutes).
Taty'ana Bulanova, "ne so mnoy" (remix), and "Lyublyu tebya" (remix w/DJ Cvetkoff)
