Re: dental work in mexico
If your going under anesthesia, you will not be able to drive home, and the doctor actually may refuse the surgery if you don't have a driver that day.
The first day after I got my wisdom teeth out, milkshakes were sooo soothing, but you cannot, absolutly cannot drink anything throiugh a straw. So I used a spoon.
Soups are good to, but not to hot.
Mashed potatoes....
Anything soft...hard foods will be tough to eat for awhile....like, a month. You kinda learn to eat thoes foods without letting them touch the teeth that were pulled...like chew more towards the front..
My mouth was swollen, very sore, and the first day, I was very groggy from the anesthesia. My mom took me to wendys on the way home and I got a frosty, and slept the rest of the day.
Wasn't very painful at all tho...I was prescribed Vicoden, but I didn't need to take any. The first day I was to out of it to feel pain, and after that it just really didn't hrut all that bad. Nothing a tylonal couldn't handle.
Re: dental work in mexico
Food: It depends whether you get local or general anesthesia. With local, you're fine afterwards to eat. Warm foods like soup may encourage bleeding, so ice cream and popsicles are good. With general, you can only eat simple foods later in the day of surgery.
Do not drive home afterwards. Better safe than sorry.
Re: dental work in mexico
I got two of my wisdom teeth pulled in TJ, and I drove myself. They used local anesthesia.
Re: dental work in mexico
Like it's been said, you can't drive home. You will be SO out of it, you won't really come to for a few hours (or at least that was MY experiance). Pudding was my food of choice... but I was eating pizza (very carefully) by the end of the day... vicodin is a magical thing. :)
I'd offer to drive you but I'm overly protective of my car. :(
Re: dental work in mexico
YIKES!!!! after general/??? no way!!! no driving! I was under anasthesia 3 times in one month for all my dental procedures about 3-4 mnths ago... only after the 3rd procedure (i was getting used to the anasthesia) was I even LUCID. the first time i didn't remember a thing until i was at home in long beach. get a driver, please...
Re: dental work in mexico
TigersMilk-
Where in Mexico are you getting your teeth pulled? And do you mind posting the cost please. I have been thinking about getting this done, and have thought about other cosmetic procedures as it is much more affordable there. But, I like to go by referral.
Thanks!
Re: dental work in mexico
Thanks you guys. I'll have my mom drive me home. I just hope I heal ok.
Re: dental work in mexico
It was a local and it turned out ok. I just really hated the part where the dentist had the instrument in his hands clutching onto my little wisdom tooth ripping it from my jaw. I could feel the pressure but no pain at all. It sounded like crunchy celery. :covereyes I whined alot but was ok. Still, no pain this morning at all. My face was numb up to my eyeballs for an hour or so.
So, I'm hungry as fuck. I want solid food!! I have yogurt and applesauce to eat. :pessimist Any other food suggestions? I want my morning coffee too :grumpy: I want some fricken coffee.
Re: dental work in mexico
I love my dentist out of the usa.
I have saved so much cash that way.
Re: dental work in mexico
EEWWWW! Thanks for the mental picture with the celery description! Ew, ew, ewie!
Honestly, if you chew at the front of your mouth and clean really well afterwards, I see no reason why you can't have solid (if soft) foods. Pasta or fish, maybe? Or... celery? Heh. :)
EDIT: Oops, I forgot... maybe not the fish, heh. A casserole? Soup? A bean burrito? Mashed potatoes?
