Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
::) Hello !
I have all my gear and I'm ready to go try out to dance , but I seem to be doing this more on a hobby level . My day job workload isn't lightening up anytime soon, so I just don't have time to dance full time . I'd like to try it anyway ..........
So ....... just wondering what your thoughts are .
Is this silly ? Will it be totally unprofitable to dance only a few times a month ( no time to build up regulars ) ?
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
IMHO, if you're doing it for a hobby sort of thing, that means you must enjoy it, and if that radiates out to the custies, they're gonna enjoy having you around, therefore, I think you should make some decent, if not good, money!
Just my opinion!
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
Go for it! You could still have regulars. Maybe work one day a week every week. When guys ask you when you work, tell them every Saturday or whatever day you work. Sounds pretty memorable and solid, as opposed to the "Um I work all different days, spend some money and I'll give you my dancer email account so I can be more specific" approach I use very lamely.
And your hobby will probably be profitable. Even working four nights a month making 200 dollars post fees and tip outs increases your yearly gross income by 9,600 dollars. Minus the costs of dancing gear and makeup, of course.
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
I know a lot of girls at my club who only work about 3-4 times a month. They have regular jobs, families, and other stuff going on so they only do it for some extra money..... I don't actually think they only do it for fun... I mean, how can you have fun if you don't make money?????!!!!!
Oh, and by the way......when I say they need some extra cash I mean they need to buy this new gucci purse they saw at the mall the other day!
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
Actually you're more likely to get regulars when you show up more rarely. If you're at work all the time they just show up whenever but when you tell them you're only there once a month they tend to ask when are you coming next, can they come, etc. If I could figure out a regular job I enjoyed half as much as dancing I'd probably do the same as you. It's a great "hobby!"
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
If and when I get the nerve and time to dance, I'll only be doing it as a part time hobby. I'm a full time student and have a 30 hr per week job, so I imagine I'd dance only sporadically and just for fun. I'm sure there are lots of people who dance for fun rather than necessity.
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
During the summer I was working 3-4 days a week, but now that school has started I only work 1 day a week. I absolutely LOVE that about dancing. What other job would let you work so few hours and still make such good money?
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
i think dancing as a hobby s a great thing!!! On the months when my "real job " is doing well i make money better because i dont HAVE TO make a certain amount to cover expennses I can actually have fun with the extra money and not being stressed about making a certain quota makes it easier, in my opinion to be a fun dancer! Go for it!!!
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
I agree with Hustle Bunny..dancing as a hobby is definitely a great thing. You stand less of a chance of getting burned out!!
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
I have a couple friends who only dance a few times a month, sometimes not at all for several months. They literally drop in for a few hours to grab some extra cash, but keep their 'dayjobs'. It's definitely profitable insofar as you can grab a quick $400 or whatever when you feel short, but you don't depend for your livelihood on it.
In some ways I think this is an especially good way to start off, because you don't forget the relative value of that money (like maybe I did when I started dancing, and spent way too much of that easy cash...I should have saved more). At least in the case of my friends who do this, they do it so that they can save wisely their dayjob cash, and use the dancing cash for extra things. I think it helps them to live within their means.
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
Just make sure the club that you are wanting to work at is ok with this. some clubs make you come up with a set schedule, like you HAVE to work 3 days/week, 6 hr shifts. Some clubs don't care. Just clear it first.
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
I guess I could count myself as a recreational dancer too.
As the completion of my degree looms, I've cut my shifts down to once a month and aside from uni, I've also got a steady job elsewhere so money isn't much of a priority for me. Dancing's great to have as a side job because it gives me a chance to 'not be myself' for that one night (if that makes sense) and when stripper politics aren't involved, it can be a hoot!
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
Oh dancing is defintly my hobby I have a family and stuff to but when i am not pg i dance i do it for the fun I honelsty love it. Being on stage and feeling sexy is so impowering Im only 27 I am going to have this "hobby" for years to come. enjoy yourself.
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
Ironically, I make much more money when I don't need it. And regulars suck, you don't want them anyway! Too much upkeep! So yeah, make sure the club doesn't have scheduling requirements and go nuts!
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
Stripping as a hobby? Wow, what are you other hobbies, running marathons in 120 degree heat?
Nope, too much BS in that line of work to do it as a hobby.
Re: Dancing as a Hobby ? Anyone else ?
I danced on a "hobbyist" level for over a year...anywhere from 2-4 times a month. I LOVED it because there was no pressure to make money, and was able to make more money because I wasn't stressed out over it. Believe me, the guys will notice the difference between the girl enjoying herself and the girl who is burnt out...they will go for the fun girl everytime.
