I take a pill very similar to this and I've never had a problem. NO breakthrough bleeding, nothing. My periods are much shorted and lighter now too. My Dr. said the less I menstrate the better because of my painful fibroids.
Well I tried something similar a few years ago. Seasonale which is saposto be 4 periods a year. The first 3 months were great no breakthrough bleeding or anything. Then after I got the first period I just kept bleeding until I switched back to ortho. It was horrible, I wouldn`t try a new one again.
I don't use seasonique, but I take constant birth control (Yasmin) meaning I always skip the placebo week. I never have a period, and haven't in years.
Initially, I had some break through bleeding, very minor spotting. That's to be expected, but after about 3 months, your body adjusts.
I used seasonale for while, but got some spotting at random times during the month. Then I switched to Nuvaring, and didnt have any problems. I just keep it in and dont take it out when it says to (the doc. said that's perfectly ok).
I'm on Seasonale and love it. I had some minor breakthrough bleeding the first one or two cycles, but that was it. It has been a godsend for me, since on the monthly pill I was suicidal once a month and now I'm a normal person, lol. The only thing I find is that it can be a little more sensitive to you not taking it at the same time every day (i.e. you might get more breakthrough bleeding than normal if you're not good about taking it the same time).
Oh, thanks so much, ladies! Really needed the input here. I just suffer so much w/my periods..
