I was just curious, as I don't have a car, and I was wondering how safe other strippers thought this was.

Get a taxi :)
I take the bus there, taxi or carpool home :)
^^Same. Since it is daylight when I go to work and I just get off at a popular stop downtown.
Taking the bus at night can be scary (for me at least) and could lead potential creepers right to where you live.
Drive home.
Most of the 'reputable' SCs in my city are downtown and I live out in the suburbs. I know of other girls in the same living situation as me who've caught the train/bus home the morning after a shift, but I just wouldn't be able to do it. Besides, I feel more safe in my own car than on public transport, or even on a taxi...
I've bussed in, but it wasn't an option after nine, so I always had a ride home.
I usually bussed in when it was available, and took a taxi home.
take a taxi being hurt is extremely expensive...your safety is worth more than the price of a taxi
The bus I take passes by the mall. What if I take the return bus to the mall, and call a cab from there? It'd be cheaper.
Is the mall gonna be open when you get out of work? I can't imagine that being to safe, standing at a closed mall by yourself.
How far do you live from work? I know lots of girls that take taxis everyday and its not too big of an expense. Also once you get to know people, you might be able to carpool with somebody.
I've had luck negotiating flat rates before. For example, I'll hit them up when I get in the cab and ask them if they're willing to take $X. of course this really only works when you have a good idea what the regular cost would be but it's something to keep in mind.
A taxi is even better than your own car, as a potential creep could start to recognise it. Not only that, but while you're in a taxi, you're not driving, so you can pay more attention to whether or not you're being followed.
Well.... when I worked in Jersey I always had a hard time finding a bus that ran past 12am. I guess it's theoretically possible for dayshifts but really a stretch for nightshift work. Where are you going to be working and at what times?
I don't really think taking a bus in the middle of the night after working a shift at a SC is gonna work out well. Most strippers look like, well, strippers after work and you could get hassled on a bus.
Find a taxi or some other service to get home from work, it will probably be a lot safer. Just my 2 cents.
Once you start working you will realize that a $10-$40 cab fare is quite doable with the amount of money you are making (hopefully!!). Also after having a few cab drivers you may find one that could be a regular driver for you. I call my driver's personal cell phone to see if he can pick me up. He will often charge me well below the regular fare (of course I always tip him the extra).
It is hard to rationalize a cab ride home when it costs you an hour's + worth of work, but it should be easy to budget for with the kind of money you make dancing.
just out of curiosity, how much are you anticipating the cab ride to be? How many miles are we talking about here?
One of the reasons that I'm not stripping now is that a taxi ride home is so out of the question and I'm waiting until I get a car. Not only will it be safer than catching public transport but think about all the stuff you are going to have to lug around like shoes, clothes, makeup etc.
I bus to work and cab home - sometimes I get a lift.
I take the bus to and from work. But if it is too late I will take a cab to the nearest subway station and then take the subway home. Once in a while I can get a ride from another dancer.
^^^ You take the subway in LA? ...Whaaa...?
