Hello from Oz, I mean UK, uh, where am I again?
Hiya,
My name is (or was) Scarlett.
I'm Australian but I'm currently based in the UK. I travel alot.
I used to dance in Melbourne (Oz) but i've had a few years off chasing other avenues. I've been thinking recently about getting back into dancing, either in London or Vancouver, or both.
I've become all nostalgic of late, I think these forums have alot to do with that, now i'm starting to forget why I quit in the first place! I'm also very isolated in my current job and this is really my only social avenue at the moment (sad huh).
Anyhoo, if anyone has any info on dancing in London or Vancouver, or just wants to say hi, please do.

Re: Hello from Oz, I mean UK, uh, where am I again?
Ummmm...... I got married and my husband (now ex) convinced me it was a better idea. I was admittedly a bit burnt out, I tend to forget I need regular holidays etc.
In hindsight I think what I needed was a decent honeymoon and then come back to work refreshed. But hey, I went to uni, got some qualifications and skipped the country so it's not all bad.
I'm currently working in the health industry in a sleepy little english town and apart from the fact that i get to travel heaps, i swear it's squashing me. So yeah, what better time to get back into shape and give it another bash, I can still work it!
So yeah, that's a little about me, thanks for asking :-)

Hi,
I'm not a million miles from London.
I can tell you a bit about the London strip pub (as opposed to club) scene if that would help.
What sort of info are you after?
Phil.

Either, I have no idea in this country, I've only worked in Oz.
How does it work here as in private dances, table dances, show's, their prices and rules on contact. Also what are the usual opening times and do you know the policy on tattoo's and piercings. Anything you can think of really. And what's the difference between club and pub? Trust the english to have something pub-specific, haha.
Thankyou\

47 pages of explanation later.... ;)
Clubs are probably more upmarket than pubs. Call them lap dance clubs. Think Spearmint Rhino, FYEO, etc.
Pubs are just that - pubs that put strippers on. I know more about pubs than clubs. There are about 30 strip pubs in London.
Way you make your money is a bit different. Clubs, it's primarly from private dances. Pubs do jug collections - that is to say a floor show where you take a beer mug around and collect £1 from everyone in the pub befpore your dance. (Pub's also do private dances).
Contact is meant to be low to none, but some places are well known for being high contact (and a bit outside of the law).
Fees etc are lower in pubs than the clubs, but so are potential earnings. Pubs are often open 1 pm to midnight, clubs early evening to small hours of morning.
Pubs don't have many rules about tats and pirecings - clubs are (I understand) a bit stricter.
So what else do you need to know?
Phil.

Re: Hello from Oz, I mean UK, uh, where am I again?
Thanks Phil! :-*
Definately clubs, I don't think the whole pub thing is really me. I preferred 'gown clubs' back home. Less contact and mo' money I say. I do however have a few tattoo's and a couple are quite big, Somewhat of a hindrence perhaps but I guess I'll just have to let the manager (?) see for themselves. Speaking of, how do I go about applying to work in these clubs? I guess there's an 'audition' of sorts, do you know who this is for and what it entails?
Also, what do you think of stringfellows?
Thanks so much

Re: Hello from Oz, I mean UK, uh, where am I again?
Only lap dance club I've been in is Inhibitions, close to Heathrow airport. Slightly depressing experience as there were twice as many dancers as customers - and it's no fun repeatedly saying no to girls desperate to make money.
I knew an (ex) member of this site who came over to the UK to work at Spearmint Rhino(?) in Bournemouth on the south coast - she made good money there. She just e-mailed the manager with a couple of bikini photos and was invited for an audition. Her audition was a one off stage dance - topless only. apparently it's only the private dances there that are fully nude. (Don't ask me what the club was like - I only ever met her outside of work).
Stringfellows is a bit choosy about who they hire. Your tats/piercings may be a problem.
Do your budgetting carefully if you come to london - it's an expensive place to live and you'll need to clear a bit of money to afford it. You'll also need to think about transport - a lot of the clubs finish in the small hours and i wouldn't recommend the night busses in London for someone with money on them.
Finally, you could try a search on "London" in the Club Chat section - or even posting a question. There are a number of London club dancers who post on this board and could help.

Re: Hello from Oz, I mean UK, uh, where am I again?
Haha, thanks Phil, I have lived in London before so I know what to expect there, thanks for the advice anyways.
Yah, I think my tattoo's are tasteful but hey, that's why they're mine :)
A stage dance just for the manager? Yikes, for some reason a larger crowd always makes it easier, as do very dim lights.
I'm so out of practice, better start practising. Although I'm on contract until about feb 08, so plenty o time to brush up on old skills hey.
Thanks again.
PS. Hi LAChloe :)

Ah, the ambiguities of English. The stage dance was for an audience. (It was also her first ever public strip).
Dunno about lights in the other clubs but lighting in Inhibitions was subdued but still reasonably bright. (The eternal lighting conumdrum - guys like it bright cos they want to look, and dancers like it more subdued because it's more flattering to them).
Good luck to you when you finally get to London....
Phil.

Re: Hello from Oz, I mean UK, uh, where am I again?
Thanks hon, that's a relief, always easier with an audience.
Yes yes, girls always gravitate towards the dimmer side of the room, guys to the brighter. Isn't more flattering lighting win/win? Then again, guys are less likely to notice a spot on my arse than i am huh.
So when you say topless, does this mean with g-string or fully clothed waist down? Doesn't really matter I guess, just curious.

From what I remember her telling me: g-string.
I believe all stage dances were topless only, and guys then paid for a fully nude private dance.
