grad/profssional school and stripping
Anyone know any strippers who did put/are putting themselves through law school/med school/super hard and intense grad school by stripping?
We're not allowed to work our first year of law school, but fuck the ABA. I was hoping to sneak in some nights of work at a strip club. Maybe bartending or waitressing, 'cos I wouldn't want to get fucked later in life if I decide to run for an office or something (hahhahahaha, yeah right!)
pardon my f-bombs
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
I'm working on my PhD and may be stripping to supplement my income again if modeling doesn't pan out. I couldn't do more than one night a week, and even that could end up being pushing it, as I'm in the lab 30 hours plus class 12 hours plus 20 hours of studying at least.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
Take it from someone who did law school AND and MBA (but only finished the MBA. Just graduated :) ), DO NOT try to dance first year of law school if you can help it. It is hard enough and you need to be focusing on Civil Procedure, because that kicks everyone's natural ass. Only work if you absolutely HAVE to. Also, you do not want people in law school to know that you dance. It is a pain in the ass to have to deal with people who already trying to sabotage you psychologically so they can stay ahead of you on the grading curve. Good luck, honey. Oh
Oh, and invest in the Nutshells series, especially for Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Torts. Glannon's isn't bad either.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
Oh sorry, to answer the question, I did dance thru grad, but only in spurts as you burn out very easily and have to attend a lot of functions for networking purposes.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
^^^ shit i've missed seeing you!!!!
and yes, i plan on doing it too... no clue quite yet how it'll work, but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
well i'm going for my mba/jd now, and i dance 2 days a week, its working out fine for me, but i'm going part time thou- like 3 classes/semester tops, and i take 1 law class w 2 mba classes per semester, and mba is way less effort...i think you'd be fine if you work 1-2/week, but def don't stress yourself out too much
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
Hi Embyr!!!!!! :)
And Saphire you're right, going part time is a LOT different. I just assume she's going full time b/c only then the law schools don't allow you to work at all. MBA was awesome for me, but I'm glad it's finally over.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
I do 3 days right now, I'd like to go down to two, we'll see how that works. I am in a super tough program and taking a retarded number of credits ( a LOT).
It would be better to dance cause then you won't have to put down your SS#...breaking rules about working would be easier to track if you have to put down your SS for tax purposes.
I have heard of scholarship girls who weren't supposed to work getting caught dancing and having their funding pulled. I'd be very careful about where I work if I were you.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
I have to say it's pretty unrealistic. I was a pre vet student for a while and from the sounds of it there's NO WAY someone could work and do vet school at the same time, let alone stripping.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
I've danced though my undergrad and was thinking of maybe doing a shift or two a week when I start law school after getting settled in. I heard the same thing about not working the first year of law school so I'm working to save up for my first year now. Good luck!
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
Thank you for the answers, y'all. I just KNOW money will be very tight and the less loans I have to take the BETTER.
Francesca- where did you attend law school?
Gemini- which schools are you applying to? I've already submitted a bunch for early action. the process is a PAIN IN THE ASS, eh?
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
I currently work with a few MBA, Pre-Med, and Masters degree students. They limit themselves to 1-2 nights per week. I think it's doable but it really depends on the person. I never danced and went to school at the same time because I couldn't even handle one night.
I went to school, loaded up on my classes (22 credits in one semester, in fact) and then danced my ass off during the summers. I like working hard but I like focusing on one thing at a time. Maybe consider that as an option.
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
Hey hon,
I PM'ed you with the name of my law school.

I'm planning on applying to Harvard, BU, Suffolk and Northeastern. Where have you applied so far? The application process in general is a pain in the ass. So are the LSAT! Again, good luck!
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
someone want to explain to me how exactly you're supposed to cover your needs if you aren't allowed to work the first year? *confused*
Re: grad/profssional school and stripping
^^^You pull out a private living loan. The law schools usually will refer us to companies that provide loans as living expenses for graduate/law students.
