That's better! Less demanding. The "Do I deserve a tip?" sounds great for stage, but not dances.

LOL - if you say that in Australia, you would probably get - be good to your mother :D
I used the cute "Do I deserve a tip?" line, and the guy said in a smartasss tone, "YEah, I think I tipped enough already." I was like, you paid for dances that wasn't a tip, lol. That was a base charge, I don"t know maybe asking for tips seems greedy in the first place????
It does!! Imagine if your waitress or bellboy or cab driver said "Do I deserve a tip?"
I would call them a smartass and would think less of them in 99% of scenarios. For stage? Cute. FOr dances? TACKYYYY!!!! We're already making about 20 bucks/3 minutes, which is more than most of the customers make. When I hustle for tips, I just put it out there that it's a common option, but I don't directly ask or nag for one.
Yeah, lately I haven't been using the "deserve" line much anymore... I've been getting much better results with "So that will be $X, and you're welcome to tip me if you like" (big smile).
In Spanish it doesn't come out quite as politely, but I don't really know if you can create a "you're welcome to.." phrase in Spanish. The closest thing I can think of, and what I've been using, is "No mas será $X, y puedes darme una propina si quieres" ;D
may work in US, you guys are better tippers!! Brits are mean!
^^^ Haha, yeah, that's pretty true. Whenever I travel in Europe, I tip my usual 25 - 30% in restaurants, and the waitstaff always look at me like I'm crazy.. :P One server in Berlin did a really great job, so I tipped him like 40%, and he refused to take it.. He was just like, "Das ist zu viel, oder?" -- "That's just too much, isn't it?" Haha. So he gave half of it back. I enjoy being a crazy tipper.. Makes me feel good ;D
thats cos your food is v cheap to us europeans. Everything in Euirope is dear and we cant afford to tip too, theres generally service charge included.
A cute dancer in Vegas said to me, "that will be X dollars and just so you know we only work off of tips here." I tipped an extra $10 because of that..and she was cute.
The previous girl said, "do you wanna tip me?" She didn't get a tip.
be honest and tell them how much commisoon the club takes!! They'll be shocked into giving you more!
I have come to the conclusion that the delivery is ten times more important than the actual line. I could make: "Do you wanna tip me?" sound sweet as pie and cute as kittens and I could make "Do I deserve a tip?" sound like nails on a chalkboard. So long as you're cute and bewitching you can make anything a winner.
the old hacks it wont work, but new visitors will be truly shocked as so many sem to think the club pays us to be there!! Bless!
We get a lot of out-of-town/state visitors through my club; I was reminded yesterday how effective just mentioning the tip was. "It'll be $X, and I don't know how it is at clubs in your state, but tipping is allowed here." Like it's a privilege that they get to tip me. It worked quite well.
Something that has never failed for me is saying "That'll be $X for the dance, and tips are always appreciated."
I think its a friendly reminder that something above the cost of the dance is good.
