    Hair colouring help, please!!

My hair is naturally black. Like dark dark jet black. The colour never suited me, but when I'm tan, darkish - very dark brown hair with blonde flashes makes me look real exotic. And I love it. But Iv spent over a year gradually getting my hair highlighted to a lighter golden blondey colour with various ash blondes in it also. Which I like. Although I would also like to be able to alternate between the two without the use of wigs.

So I was wondering, if my hair, naturally black, is now uber highlighted (always at a salon) could I use a home wash in wash out mid to dark brown colour to vary my hair colour from time to time. Or would it affect the colour of my highlights? I dont wanna go brown temporarily thinking it will be easy to wash out, only to not like it as much as I do the blonder me, and then wash it out with tainted hair due to my testing? If that makes sense?

jeez I dont even understand me sometime.

Look forward to the replies cause as they say...variety is the spice of life!!

The blond will take whatever color you put in. The only way to get rid of the color is to bleach it back out. It will not just wash out overtime.

Lets say you have a sponge - this is your bleached hair. Full of holes and empty. You put color on it it will GRAB and fill in those holes. The color is now INSIDE your hair. It will gradually fade but not back to blond and if no filler is used when that brown starts to fade you could have some ugly color on your hands.

Id have to say - DONT DO IT.

No. The only ones that will 'REALLY' wash out are the spray ones (like the halloween ones kids use)

Even the semi and demi perm (supposed wash out in a few weeks) wont fully wash out of bleached hair. The hair is too porous and will grab the color. Most likely it will hold onto the base tone which may leave you with greenish hair when it washes out.
