I need them but they won't do them on me. Back when I had insurance, I was always told to start getting mammograms every year at 25, and every six months at 30. I'm 28 now and I've still never had one, which pisses me off. The breast cancer that young women get is MUCH more lethal than the kind older women get, but mammogram techs love to pretend that young women never get breast cancer.
How come they're doing one breast and not the other on you?
I had mine done befor emy BA, and I didnt ave much then either. It wasnt too bad actually. The tech kind of placed it in the machine and it squeezed. Only lasted a minute. If you take your palms and press them together one on top and on on bottom of your breast until you flatten it out horizontally..thats about what it wil feel like.

yek, they're only doing one side cause that's the side that hurts. she thinks it may just be a spasming peck muscle (or at least that's what she's telling me), but she's being cautious and setting my up for that side.
ya i thought it was weird only doing one side too.
cameron, thanks for the info!

I had one when I was 20 because I have fibrocystic changes and my doc wanted a baseline to compare future scans with. It is a lot of pressure and squeezing, nothing particularly painful. Back then, I wasn't particularly large ( a large A - small B at best), but I was firm and solid...no bounce in the girls at all. I was more irritated that I couldn't wear deodorant that day

I had one about two years ago, before my BA. I was an large A/small B at the time.
Mine hurt like hell. It's two plastic plates and they do two pics, flattening the breast vertically and horizontally. When the plates came down I yelled "take it off!!" But it's a pain will go through to make sure I'm healthy.
I haven't had one since my BA but I did ask the nurse if it's any different and she said they have to take more pics because they have to manipulate the implant to get pics of the breast.
You might want to check on this, when they took me back they asked if I had on deodorant, apparently they didn't want you to wear it, I had to take it off with a baby wipe.
