    Default unexplained weight gain

    Hey guys,

I could really use some help, for the past 4 months I've been putting on weight and I truly don't know where it is coming from. I was diagnosed with peptic ulcers at 17 and as a result was put on a very strict diet. I've stuck to that diet for 9 years now because even if I have a bite of cake or pizza I'll have the worst pains and usually end up in the ER.

I stick to a very bland but healthy diet, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, nothing fried, and everything that is low to non fat. I don't really go by the scale but by my jean size that is either a size 0 or size 2. Lately I had to start buying jeans that are a size 4 because my 2's no longer fit. I tried even lowering my calorie intake, doing more excerise and it seems like I'll lose 4-5lbs one day only to wake up the next and be heavier again. I've seriously weighed 110lbs one day and woke up weighing 118lbs the next!! I drink a lot of water during the day and I even started taking the water pills thinking that this might be water weight and nothing seems to help.

The weight started coming on over the summer and the only possible thing I can think of is I developed terrible allergies to my fur babies so I started taking claritin. I asked my doctor if claritin could be making me gain weight like that and she says no. I had my thyroid checked and that was fine too.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Just growing into your "adult" size, or ovarian cysts, is my guess.

I have what you are explaining! I was thin most of my life and all of a sudden I put on a huge amount of weight despite a strict healthy diet. I will wake up several pounds heavier than I was the day before. I am assuming that some of it is water retention. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and it makes you fat and it is very depressing. It actually puts one in a pre-diabetic state. I am on a med called Metformin which helps with the insulin resistance and was told in the long run it might help me lose weight. I hope you do not have this it is very depressing. But I am glad that I finally have a diagnosis after going to all these Drs and not knowing what was causing this. I was so sure before that it was a thyroid problem but all the tests came back negative. See an Endocrinologist and they will run all sorts of hormone tests! Good luck!
