Post Linsmore, New South Wales, Australia: Are You Okay?

This goes for Australia in general, since you might not be in Linsmore but may know someone who is.

    I read the report today:

Hail the size of tennis balls struck Linsmore, New South Wales, Australia.

The report read that hail came down violently on several roofs which were completely destroyed along with furniture and other household items, windshields were smashed in, trees and power lines were knocked down so there are power outages in many areas.

For anyone who is currently over there, or knows someone who is, I hope you, your family, your pets, your belongings and everything else are okay:

I laugh because this isn't that huge a deal. I've been thru heaps and heaps of hail storms in my lifetime due to living on the Gold Coast ... for goodness sake it is the closest to snow I get here

I have even been known to eat it. Mmm... crunchy!

There will be some decent car sales going on down there if you don't mind brand new cars with huge dints in the top of the cars (and other places) as they always have them the car yard "Hail Damage Sales".

Storms have been pretty much a nightly occurance for the last couple of nights here locally.

Awww GoldCoastGirl, well, I read a report, (no pics) and the report read that it had caused major damage, including destruction of homes and furniture within the homes-

That would be enough to concern anyone, naturally, but I was especially worried since I have a family member in the service who shares stories and details of horrid natural disasters which go underreported here in the states.

And since I know there a few SW members who are over there, such as yourself , I was a bit concerned for them as well.

I am glad to hear that it did not personally adversely affect you GoldCoastGirl, but I am saddened that some people seem to be looking forward to serious reconstruction efforts and costs.

LoL; Is that the cheapest way to get a car out there?

"Act of God" sales, huh? I have never heard of that here in the US, LoL.

Sounds like the Northeast version of "Drug Lord" Impound lot auctions:

Yes it actually has caused alot of damage not so much the hail stones more the lightning thru it "cutting down" (or exploding in some cases) trees around the joint and the resultant damage trees can do.

More the trees than the hail stones doing the damange IMO. Yet the SES ( http://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/ ) is busy enough for sure.

I know I shouldn't be so "blah" about them however I kinda am due to realising all this happens EVERY Spring.

As for being affected by it all, work-wise I have. The Gold Coast sucks donkey balls whenever it is storming or raining as people don't go out preferring to stay indoors. The place (Surfers Paradise) is only set up for good weather really.

I don't like working when it rains on the Gold Coast of a night (or even early evening) as it does affect business..... each and every time.

    Yeah- Weather, weather, weather.
Northeasterners have been packing some really gusty winds lately.

When traveling up to the mountain tops, I encounter several roads that are completely blocked off by fallen tree trunks or branches.
Albeit, some of these trees are rotted out, but more recently, this has not been the case. They will be lying on their side, uprooted, which is a good indication of incresed moisture in the soil.

As a matter of fact, I have read reports that the famous California Palm and Oak trees succumbing to fungal infections due to increased environmental humidity.
They are taking this opportunity to explore innoculating said trees with a vaccine to prevent the infections . But seeing as these horticultural diseases are migrating towards Europe, the US and further successfuly thriving by finding nutrient rich environments of elevated and rising humidities, I don't think that will be the end all be all.

Ugh- I am sorry to hear that girl. I hate when circumstances knock my money-Hopefully it won't be slow for too long for you. Besides, don't you have a million other things going on, LoL?

Maybe this could be a good time for you to focus on your proofs/other projects .

BTW, beautiful photos GoldCoastGirl (Police Officer/Firewoman).
I was going to send you my faves, but I got all caught up in the details and genres and ended up with a long list of several subjects:

    Flirt/Playful/Fun
    Sexy
    Domineering.

I decided not to send it since you were trying to narrow it down and I didn't want to further add to your indecision, LoL.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out which ones I want to make into A3 sized posters to sell online at my store that's why I wanted to narrow it down. It's okay if I end up with four different ones as I can use these images for a good few years before i have to update them again !

I guess it depends on what ends up on the magnet of an agency I work with currently ... whichever ends up on the magnet, I will definately get a poster made from so I can kinda sell the poster and provide the magnet for free. I know that much at least.

    Thank you!
The storms hit Lismore with particular severety this time. We do seem to get a few hail storms these days but they are not usually that full on. I spoke to my best friend yesterday who lives there and she was really scared! Her newborn slept through their windows smashing in though bles him but it was awful for them all. So much damage to property. Theyve copped a few nasty storms / flooding and so on in recent years it seems.
On the up side, my friends did buy a new family car, lol. As GCG mentioned the reductions on new cars with hail damage is huge!
