Umm there are brothels in America.. they're in Nevada
I find it interesting they would open a brothel in Vancouver yet they don't allow lap dancing and alcohol in the same room lol.
Nevermind the laws are so fucked up here(Im in BC right now actually)... like im not allowed to throw anything to a customer, not allowed to accept a tip on stage unless the guy throws it at me and even then I can't pick it up till AFTER I put clothing on at the end of my show... meh weird weird weird BC...

^^^^^ I would love to know the reasoning behind all of that.
ok ok, true enough about Nevada... but universally I wish they were allowed (not just in this country, but in all countries. Laws are so fucked up and nonsensical.

^ hahahahahah! that's funny to me, because i always tell my bf he's my canuck i love to fuck.

We have legal brothels everywhere where I live and they are not like those strange US brothels where the girls have to live thereit's just a place for paid sex where the women turn up to work and can leave.
Cally the reason behind the no alcohol being served at brothels is because of the issue of informed consent to sex I believe. There is no alcohol permitted at brothels here either.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
I really like that idea!
Prostitution is legal where I live but things are still not perfet. Like mentioned in the article street trade is still illegal but some women have no choice but to work the streets which is not desirable for a number of reasons and of course there are problems. Id love to see safe places set up for them, not just for their sake, but for the community as a whole.
I get a lot of harrasment because the area where I live is known for having some street trade and just being a single woman and walking to the shops or waiting to catch a bus attracts some pretty dogey attention. I dont think the street trade will ever go away but it would certainly make a difference to have it in a designated and area.
Wait and see if they get the exemption. There was just a federal taskforce on prostitution that came to the stellar conclusion that street prostitution was bad for women and decided to not implement any recommendations. I would be surprised if the current federal government got on board with this, and the city of Vancouver just has no real say. Injection sites aren't a commercial enterprise - they don't let people sell drugs at them. If the drug dealers of Toronto and Vancouver and lobbied for an exemption to the criminal law so that they could sell drugs more safely - that wouldn't fly. I'm not drawing a comparison between dealers and prostitutes; I just don't think there is a viable comparison between addicts and prostitutes either.
