I thought that the strippers on the show did a decent job of representing us...and of course, the hosts have to play to their soccer mom/housewife audience and say things to put down strippers.![]()

I love how their "research" showed that they make between $1K and $3K a night. Uh huh. Sure thats what they all make..
And I also love how the young girl is all shocked when they ask if she ever gets asked for sex "oh NO....That NEVER happens". Who the hell are they all kidding???
If it's a profile of the sex trade in popular media, there's apparently only one way to portray girls in the business--victims of some form of abuse being exploited by misogynistic womanizers. Not that some people obviously don't belong in the business or don't develop problems in the business, but if you're seeing it in popular media, it's always the same story...rinse, lather, repeat.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.
William F. Buckley, Jr.
We are so horrible and damaged and must have some deep underlying psychological problem.......... BUT we're great for ratings!!!!!

Scores Stripper regarding her almost 4 year old: "He doesn't need to know Mommy has her shirt off on the weekend."
Host: But Mommy does have her shirt off on the weekend.
He's acting like she's ashamed because she doesn't plan to tell her son. Um, it's not okay to have boundaries?

Love the shrink. "well it sounds good, but listen as I do blah blah blah... I had about a minute with each of them."
Wow. He's going to analyze them based on a minute long interaction. He goes on to talk about how Natalie (the Scores girl) lost her father at age 9 and how that affected her and now she craves attention from men. Give me a break. If they got a panel of dentists, CEOs, teachers, Olympic athletes, and a the butcher, the baker the candlestick-maker together, they'd find they all have issues. Loss of a parents, divorce, abuse and addiction are not unique to the sex industry.
^^ Exactly!!
You know what they should do a study on?
The percentage of Americans who grew up in a perfect household.
Where dad worked and mom stayed home all day and baked. Mom helped with the homework each night and never lost her temper. The house was always clean and dinner is on the table at 7pm sharp. After dinner, the whole family goes to the living room and watches tv together until bed time, where mom tucks in the kids and kisses them good night.
Parents retreat to their own room where they have sex, but never ever make a peep or get caught by the kids. Mom and dad live happliy ever after and are married for 70 years with no adultry or arguments. No hardships ever. Not rich, but not poor, just comfortable.
How many people have had that perfect life???
I'm willing to bet the number is very very small. The divorce rate is something like 50% of all marriages. That isn't exclusive to strippers at all.
The number of children molested each day..do every single one of them grow up to be strippers?
If you analyze ANY group of people, you'll find disfunction. That's just how life is.
People just want to think strippers have mental issues, or were abused in some way because something has to fuck you up to make you want to get naked for strangers.
Bullshit, I tell you. Everyone analyzing strippers probably has never set foot in a strip club.
Kudos to Glamazon for posting this thread! I really enjoyed watching the show. It didn't make my skin crawl as much as some of these shows that highlight dancers only to bash them.
No fair that my club doesn't offer a tuition credit like that one girl. That's so far from the truth of most of these establishments it's not even funny.
The psychologist and one of the hosts was a bit annoying at best, but they were there to point the finger and stir up some controversy. I still think it was tastefully done.
I wish they had a better representation of dancers though. There were alot of things that could have been said, but wasn't and the Scores dancer was quite entertaining. Making 1-3k every night dancing, where do I sign up? That sounds totally inaccurate of most clubs, but it all depends on where you work, what you do, if you have a alot of regulars, and so forth. I'm not knocking it, but I'm sure as hell not making it.

I liked the blonde ex stripper better because she seemed to stand up for dancers. The Scores dancer seemed far too young and somewhat ignorant. I guess they wanted a stripper like that so she couldn't represent us to the best of her ability. And did you notice they weren't as hard on the male dancer?? Double standards!
I love how when the Scores dancer would not name dollar amounts, they came up with 1k-3k!

Damn, I can't get it to play...

LOL!
Thanks for posting that show.

I want to smack the psychologist and hosts. The 19 yr old wasn't too bad, she seemed smart enough for someone her age... there are far more ditzier girls out there. Plus the ex dancer was awesome.. I noticed they didn't give her much air time.. ooh.. she has a brain.. ooh.. she can't be fooled by us and our agenda to make it look bad blah blah blah.
it was done to boost ratings and have something "interesting".. it was utter crap in the end and i feel sorry for the scores girl as i wouldn't mention being on that show at all.
plus she will have a hard time moving into journalism and being taken seriously after "outing" herself as a stripper... unless she can use it to her advantage?

UGH.
1. Juliet is an ignorant, judgemental bitch.
2. Mike has custy written all over him
3. She doesn't "need attention." She needs money ! She is 19 years old and a single mom in school. Duh.
4. What kind of a shrink makes sweeping generalizations about a persons life and mental state based on a 1minute conversation?
I will be so excited when this second rate morning show gets cancelled. Who are 'Mike and Juliet' anyway ?
This made me want to retch. Another sensationalized nugget of crap for fat America to ingest and shit back out to their friends. I should have known it would be horrible from the title having the words "Morning Show" in it.
I think the 19 year old may have sounded a bit naive about facing the challenges of going into journalism as an ex-stripper, but I'm happy to see that she is remaing positive and willing to face adversity. That positive attitude will help her.
As someone who has a journalism degree, I know better than to apply for a position as a newscaster or news reporter. Doing so with a stripping background would be very controversial. But she could always get a job as an entertainment reporter (i.e. for E!), a writer, an actress, a job in advertising or film...there is a lot she could do. I would go even so far as to say that stripping could help her develop skills she would need to succeeed in those fields. So it's not all doom and gloom for her.
I wonder if the show host said that to the dancer as a way of getting revenge for the dancer's "I make more money than you" comment.
If i were one of them i wouldn't just sit their and put up with some of the things they were saying. I would probably interrupt and set those people straight!
Here is what I was thinking as they were drilling the girl about telling her kid that she was/is a stripper...
Her kid is 4....they said in 10 years would she tell him that she was/is a stripper? Um, hello!! Her kid would only be 14!!!! Who in their right mind would think it was ok to tell a 14 year boy that they are a stripper? Thats far to young for him to comprehend! Now had they said when your kid is YOUR AGE would you tell him what you did to get through school....hell yes! At that age he is old enough and mature enough to understand everything....

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
