My hair is waist length and therefore very heavy. I have relatively short layers at the crown to give it a bit of volume which helps some, but I'm looking for an easy way to avoid pencil head without hours and hours of back combing which ultimately won't hold anyway because there's simply too much weight. So what I'm thinking I need is some sort of fat, rat-like hair piece to clip in at the crown of my head underneath the top layers. I have plenty of hair to cover it I think, so I don't really need it to have extension-like length, I just want something with some mass to match my auburn hair that will give me a sort of pseudo-60's kind of a thing without a whole lot of work... I'm very lazy, and believe it or not, despite it's length, my hair's pretty low maintenance.
When I did my sister's hair for prom into this huge, mod tease-fest, I used pantyhose bobby-pinned to her scalp for staying poof-power underneath the back combing if you can believe it, but that's just not practical for everyday, and took a lot of camouflaging. I want something fat, flexible, about six inches long (go ahead, crack a joke), made of or covered in hair, preferably with combs or something so that you can just clip it in. So assuming I've made sense, has anyone heard of this kind of thing or know where I can find one?
