    Default Im so sick

Im so sick... I want to hurl but I cant eat and ugh... Ive had a headache for 4 days... my throat hurts, I keep sneezing, coughing... my body just ACHES all over. This is horrible. I had plans this week (I was going to actually WORK ALL WEEK for ONCE) and this wont go away!

Ive been taking airborne everyday and cant think of anything else. I dont want to take prescriptions (I have Sudafed PE but dont want to take it)

Anything else that will help. I also have Emergen-C and Cold-Eeze (zinc)

    I just feel useless.

The only good thing is I lost 2 lbs this week...

Whats good to eat when youre sick... i need something that will stay down. Im supposed to stay away from milk right? Like yogurt and stuff.

I havent been sick like this in so long I dont know what to do...

They ARE high in salt, but have you tried bullion cubes? They have them in different flavors like chicken or beef and they just dissolve into water. It's like a thin broth, and it's what I use when I can't eat, rather it be because I'm sick or I'm getting an endoscopy.

Oh, and I also found this box of Capri Suns with electrolytes in them. Good for being sick too.

A guy I met here gave me a home remedy that really works, I coughed up phalem (ms?) and could breathe instantly, iy's good for a few hours then it needs to be taken again.

    Mix the following :

Vinegar ( any kind, I used apple cider)
    Honey
    Sugar
    Water
    and drink..

For foods, I'd stick to fruits ( keeps you hydrated) right now and chicken soups..

For a homemade cough syrup, I like equal parts whiskey, honey and lemon juice. Warm it up and take a tablespoon at a time.

I went to the Natural Foods Store and got

Silver Hydrosol - guess silver is supposed to kill everything. She said to put 5 drops under tongue up to 7 times a day.

    Also got Umcka

And she said to take Emergen-C until I get diarrhea To like overload my system with it. Not sure if Im going to take THAT much...

^ I'm not a doctor, but too much of anything is bad for you. Taking that much vitamin C til you have diarrhea is only taxing your liver and kidneys more than they are already taxed trying to rid your body of whatever virus you have.

Go to the store, buy a whole chicken and 1 box of organic chicken broth. Get some whole carrots, celery, peas, green beans, corn and onions (if you want). Go home, clean the chicken and put it in a big pot with the chicken broth and 2 cups of water. Bring the broth to a quick boil and then simmer it for 4 hours (the meat should fall off the bones). Remove the chicken from the broth and either seal it up and put it in the fridge for a few days from now or peel the meat off and put it back in the soup. After all of the veggies are cut, put them into the pot and simmer the meat and veggies for another 2-3 hours (until the carrot smell disappears). You can add whatever spices you want...I use Himalayan salts, ground pepper, garlic powder to taste, and onion powder to taste (if you don't use real onions).

When it's done, it is the best soup ever!! Not only is the broth loaded with all the good nutrients, etc...it is just alive with flavor.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Oh, and 7-up with crackers is good to help a weak stomach as well.

I know you're right VG. I didnt specifically try to get diarrhea by overloading, I just happened to take one whole packet of Emergen-C as directed and found out I can't take it all at once.

It's not that time-consuming to make. But, I swear...just the smell of this cooking will make you feel better. It makes the house smell delish. The longest part of cooking this is the last hour where the smells are permeating every part of the house...you WANT to eat it now...but you know you have to wait for everything to finish.

Mmmmmmm....dammit...now I want some Chicken Soup. LOL

I'll attest to that silver hydrosol. I was really skeptical about it until I actually tried it. I gargled a mouthful, swallowed a bit and fired some up my nose and my sinus infection was gone the next morning. It really does kill everything.

*Note that it takes about 5-6 hours to make the stew, but its mainly just simmering time...so its not a hard recipe...besides, it makes the house smell delish!!!*

    6 cups Chicken Broth
    2 cups water
1 Whole Chicken, with bones, but remove the organs
Carrots (I use about 3 whole, chopped carrots)
    1 Bag of frozen peas
    1 Bag of frozen corn
1 bunch of celery (if desired)
1/2 pound of fresh green beans (or you can add 1 bag of frozen green beans)
    1/2 chopped onion (if desired)
1/2 bag of wide egg noodles
    Dash of Oregano
    Garlic Powder (to taste)
Onion Powder (to taste, if not using real onions)
    Salt (to taste)
    Pepper (to taste)

Pour broth into large stock pot. Gently place the whole chicken--with the bones--into the broth. Remember to remove the organs!

Add oregano, garlic powder, onion powder (if not using onions), salt, and pepper. Add just a couple of dashes of each for now...you can season to taste later.

Bring the broth to a boil and then turn the flame down to simmer.

Simmer the chicken for approximately 3-4 hours. The chicken meat should almost fall off the bone when its done.

Remove from heat. Very carefully remove all chicken and bones from the broth. Gently peel the chicken meat from the bones. Return all meat to the broth. Add the veggies. Gently stir and return the broth to the heat on simmer.

Simmer for an additional 2 - 3 hours, stirring infrequently. You can season the soup to taste 1/2 way through this time.

    Remove from flame.

Stir, ladle servings into bowl and allow to cool slightly.

Serve with soup crackers or homemade rolls.

Stew will last for up to 7 days in the fridge. You can also freeze and have the stew last for 2 weeks.

oh I am so trying that recipe, VG. Maybe this weekend.

AL, if hubby can't make you VG's delicious sounding soup, have him pick you up some chicken broth. That's probably one thing that you just can't have too much of especially now.

To add to the chicken soup recipe...that's pretty much how I make mine, only I use a rotisserie chicken. That rotisserie chicken floavor really adds a nice flavor to the soup, with a little kick. Since I discovered doing it that way, I never make chicken soup without a rotisserie chicken.
And when I'm sick, I add a lot of garlic, like 3-4 cloves. Just cause garlic is good healer.

Best thing I do when I'm sick is what i call the Nyquil coma.
Take a dose, go to sleep. When you wake up, take another dose and go back to sleep. If you manage to sleep for the better part of 2 days, not only will your body have a chance to heal, but you sleep through feeling like crap.
    * I'm not sayign overdose. Take the prescribed dosage, but when you wake u pin 8-10 hours, take another dose after yuo get somethign to eat and take a bath, then just go back to bed.

Also, there is nothign more relaxing than Tea in the Tub.
Something my mom used to do for me every time I got sick as a child.
She woudl draw me a bath, and then bring me a cup of tea to drink while i soaked. It always made me feel better.

Wow, Im really surprised to hear you say that Venus. Thats going to be one of the few things i disagree with you on. I am a huge fan of vitamin C megadoses / orthomolecular medicine. Ive been using it succesfully for almost 16 years now and not had a cold or flu for more than a few hours usually because of it when Ive used it. You generally only get diarhea when you take the first couple of large doses, the body adjusts very quickly.
Some Drs / health care practitioners suggest that once you have reached the diarreah stage you just reduce the dose after that for a while to give the body a break. I personally think the benifits are definatly worth it.

I'll have to look into it. I was always told everything in moderation and taking too much of anything at any time was not good (and doubly so if your body is already working hard to rid viruses/illness). So, if you're sick...up your Vit C, but not to the point of diarrhea and not for many days consecutively.

But, I totally trust you...so I'll look into it more.
